Prince of Persia Movie - anyone else excited?

I just recently found out that Disney is making a live action movie roughly based on the plot of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. They have cast Jake Gyllenhaal(sp?) of Donnie Darko and The Day After Tomorrow as Dastan, and Gemma Arterton of Quantum of Solace as Tamina.
No trailer has been released yet but the images I saw looked pretty good. I also read an early version of the script and it was wittily funny, epic, and had that arabic folklore feel to it. The ending was gripping and there was a real chemistry between Tamina and Dastan. After reading the script, I really feel that Jake Gyllenhaal is an excellent choice for the prince; he has just the right sense of humor and likeability that Dastan conveys in the script.
What are you guys' feelings or thoughts about the movie?

EDIT: Here is the link to the trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxAM_XMZBd8

The way you say it, it seems you have high hopes for this movie and the possibility of an actual good video game movie

Well, if the actors do a good job (and I am at least confident in Gyllenhaal) then it is almost assuredly going to be a good movie. They already have done a good job on the sets that I have seen so far, and the script is brilliant, the special effects will be darn easy - just play the footage in reverse. The way I see it this is dead set to be a good movie.
I am curious, has anyone else read the script to this? if you search for it, it can be found relatively easily online.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about this. I'll probably want to see it, but a trailer or two will decide that. I haven't played the games before, but I'm still interested in this and Tron Legacy from Walt Disney Pictures next year.

They leaked a script? Why would they do that?

Keep in mind that the team behind this movie is the same one that made the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Re: Prince of Persia Movie - anyone else excited?

I am very excited for this movie, mainly because Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is one of my all time favorite games. I have high expectations and I have a feeling that the movie won't meet them... It seems like all video game movies are like this...

Re: Prince of Persia Movie - anyone else excited?

YES! I saw this trailer last night, I really like the way they made the sands of time look, but it seems they are combining aspects of Two Thrones with it (the glowy lines on his arm and the metal whip).

Hmm you're right. However I'd highly doubt we'll see the evil prince or anything like that from Two Thrones. The only things I have to complain about the trailer thus far:
1. There isn't a lot of photage of the villain. How's the audience supposed to know the antagonist (and his actions) from that trailer.

2. It's called Prince of Persia, but it seems like the Prince & Princess spent their youth studying abroad in Oxford. Carrying out different characters and their accents throughout your career as an actor shows how great your skill as a thespian. I'm not asking for authenticity of having Persian actors with subtitles, I'm just asking for some sort of persian influence.

Never seen Pirates of the Caribbean, The Chronicles of Narnia, National Treasure, or Tron? They're all good movies, and that's just naming a handful. Also, you seem to in denial that Disney is the largest and most successful media and entertainment company in the world. On the contrary to your comment, one should expect the film to be rather enjoyable considering that Disney is behind it.

Pirates and National Treasure are the only Live Action movies made by Disney (that I know of) that I have actually enjoyed and felt that I was part of the target audience.

It does look pretty cool, but it doesn't seem like my type of movie.
