Neve Campbell signs up for Scream 4

Contrary to previous reports, a story in Variety this morning about the upcoming Dimension Films slate suggests that Neve Campbell will be returning for Scream 4 after all. If it's true, she'll be joing Courtney Cox and David Arquette.

Production on the first part of a mooted new Scream trilogy begins in late spring next year, and Bob Weinstein is attempting to woo Wes Craven back to direct. Craven, you'll recall if you've been following the story so far, was pretty lukewarm about the idea back in June, but didn't completely rule it out, telling Digital Spy "I'm not closed to it, I'm not open to it, I'll be perfectly happy to read a script and tell Bob what I think." Time (and perhaps salary) will tell.

I'm a little disappointed that Neve Campbell of all people would be holding out for more cash (maybe she was just too busy filming all of her other movi - pshhhh, couldn't keep a straight face for that one ) but at least it's some-what confirmed that Scream 4 is the real deal!

Wes Craven has still to pin his colours to the mast, but the Cox-Arquettes will be returning as Gale Weathers and Dewey.

Even through Scream 3 was a disappointment, I'm still really excited about this one. The Scream movies have the self-parody/horror combo down perfectly, and the series has had some of the best deaths of any slasher movie.

I've only ever seen the first Scream x: That girl trying to escape through the catflap in the garage still makes me rofl some. Honestly, I only JUST thought of Neve again because I watched Wild Things a few weeks ago. I wondered what had happened to her. Vega/Kelly, hun, can you spoil things for me and tell me who the killers were in the second/third movies? xD

I did enjoy the original trilogy, and would like to see Ghostface again.

Jeez, seems everything's being remade from Craven: Elm Street, Last House on the Left, and now this.
