Which is better in cards and TV

Yu-Gi-Oh actually has a plot. And likeable characters. It saddens me that people judge it by the "let's advertise the card game" TV series when the comic actually had character development, story arcs and even a healthy dose of violence (knife fights, an escaped convict getting set on fire, an axe murderer loose in a theme park). Pretty much all the good stuff got edited out of the cartoon.

Yu-Gi-Oh is much more enjoyable if you read the manga or watch the Japanese Anime. And it has sexier characters than Pokemon.

Yu-gi-oh you can actually sit through, Pokemon is annoying and the game makes no sense.

And unlike Yu-Gi-Oh, no-one in Pokemon brings a porno into school for their friends to see.

The cards and TV show both suck. Pokemon games are fun though.

Yu-Gi-Oh is better in show, imo, but Pokemon is better in cards. I really can't choose. xP

They both have their ups and downs. In Yugioh, they stressed respecting the cards. But that doesn't make much sense in the first season or two, because they were really just cards. then it came in with the magical creatures and egyptian games and stuff. Also I didn't like Tea after she stopped yugi from defeating Kiba in order to save his grandfather. All because in that anime, Kiba MIGHT have falled off the parapet.

I liked the first season or two of Pokemon, except Ash always got rid of his better pokemon, the ones he kept rarely evolved, he lost every championship tournament he entered, and the show disregarded the rules of the game. Like how Charizard still refused to obey Ash after he got eight badges, and electric attacks can defeat ground types.

I played the pokemon games, and liked them, while I never got my hands on any Yugioh games. Nowadays I play pokemon online, which is all the fun without all the hassle.

I'm not sure what zeldamaster means by the pokemon games not making sense.

Pokemon, It has to be my choice I like it almost as much as Zelda.

The OP asked about the two less exhilarating parts of pokemon, though - the card game and the anime. They both suck. the card game is beyond basic and overcomsating the point of boredom, and anime is nothing more than constant driveling of Ash, Pikachu, and the latest female main character. Both of these things came after the original pokemon video games (the games were much better, by the way).

Yugioh has a plot, but so what? Saying it's better than the pokemon anime is like saying four is greater than three; there isn't much of a gap. I will admit the characters in Yugioh stick out more, though, and feel less shallow, which also isn't saying much.

I know nothing about the Yugioh manga, but I assume it - like pokemon - is better than its anime counterpart. Yugioh games are nothing more than pressing buttons to play cards, and that's just silly.

I prefer pokemon.

And yet, you pick attacks in turns, at least in most final fantasy's it's time based and not turn.

They're both turn-based, though, so there is no base difference between the two franchises in that area of comparison.

Um, 12: completely run around but still time. 7: Time based, not turn, if it was Pokemon, the enemies would be easy as hell because you have all the time in the world.

In the original Japanese Anime, Kaiba was going to jump off himself, so he would have died for real if he lost.

Still wouldn't be Yugi's fault directly, nor should he sacrifice his grandfather for an enemy.

I think we can all agree that in both seasons of the shows that the First Season was the best. Oh, and the card games are okay, although I don't play them anymore.

Card game-wise, Yu-Gi-Oh! definitely tops Pokemon. Pokemon confused me greatly, and I was actually pretty good at Yu-Gi-Oh!, though I got bored when I got an Egyptian God card (though I think it was probably a fake, in retrospect) and was kicking ass.
