Re: TCG recommendations?
More important than the game itself - 98% of the time - is the opportunity you'll have to play. Its always easier to find and join a group playing anime-based TCG X during study hall, or to pick up the weekly league game at a reputable local game store, than to try and convince your friends to buy into a new game you heard about on the internet.
To make the obvious point, you really can't go wrong with Magic: The Gathering here; worldwide it sees far more support from its producers, store owners, and its player base than any other TCG, and offers more tones, types, styles, and avenues of play than perhaps any other game in existence. On top of all that, Wizards is currently in the middle of overhauling the game with new-player appeal in mind. That being said, the game is frustratingly difficult to *properly* learn, is intimidatingly large and ancient, is played by all manner of douche bags, and of course will almost always favor the player who spent the most on his deck. Flaws of most great tabletop games, but there ya are... |

Re: TCG recommendations?
Hey, I've been wondering how magic is played for a while.
Anyway, I got in to Yu-gi-oh about 5 months ago. Some guys at school play so I basically can play at any time with them. And there is a small store where tournaments are held each weekend. I Live in a city so small it doesnt appear in most maps, and if a city as small as this one has a place with others to play with, then probably there will be a place like that in your city.
