Star Wars - Expanded Universe

Almost everyone is familiar with the six movies and maybe even the recent Clone Wars movie/cartoons. But not as many are familiar with the books--and there are tons of them.

So this thread is to discuss the storylines and characters of the 100+ SW novels. Just a warning: This thread will be filled with SPOILERS, so read at your own risk.

Anyway, what's your favorite book/series? Favorite EU character(s)? Favorite era? Favorite author?

As for me, I'm trying to read all the novels (well, all the adult ones and some of the junior ones) going in general order of publication date. I'm in the late '90s so still have a ways to go, but I am familiar with the gist of the more recent stuff.

So, discuss!

My brother has a bunch of the novels, maybe now I'll start read them. I'll be sure to check back into to this.

I just recently found Shadows of the Empire and Labyrinth of Evil in the basement. I played the Shadows video game back when it was on N64. Never read the book, though.

I used to be way into the EU books when I was younger, though never really to a huge extent. Just a few series here or there. The Han Solo trilogy is the one I probably like the most, matter of fact I just reread the whole thing a few weeks ago.

I started reading...um...the one with the insane alien invasion...Yuzhon Vong? Something like that. Got five or six books in and stopped, and that was probably the last time I read anything from the EU. Though I also recently spent time on Wookiepedia looking at some EU characters and what has gone on with them.

Anywho, favourite EU character is Kyle Katarn, because I've been a Dark Forces/Jedi Knight fan since I was small, and still am today.

Hate to revive a thread, but I somehow doubt we need two of these.

I'm a big EU Star Wars fan, myself, though I don't like a lot of it. (figure that out)

The X-Wing series is by far my favorite Star Wars saga, and possibly my favorite book series in general. I'm a big space combat junkie, so an entire series based around it is obviously going to be loved by me. The novels pack some awesome flying, great combat and amazing characters. Honestly, they should just make them into movies, it'd be great.
