Try 1000+ for the 2nd and 1100+ for the third. It's daunting, but worry not though, the quality of the writing and storytelling just gets better and better as you move through. Just prepare yourself emotionally, you're in for some tough times.

Currently rereading Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. One of my favourite stories ever.

Re: What book are you reading?

Not reading anything at the moment, but I have read The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks for an English assignment. It was the only good book in the library out of a horrible selection they had to offer, and I don;t regret ever reading this book. It's very good.

I'm planning to read Winter's Heart by Robert Jordan, but it's the ninth and last book in a series. I don't want to read it unless I've read the first.

I have only watch the first movie, and so far, it's not that appealing to me. I may be ignorant, but those types of fantasy aren't in my taste for stories. I bet this'll make me an outcast of some sort in the future, but it's my opinion and I stand by it.

Yeah, it definitely is a fantastic book. I'm not in any trouble of losing interest, but it's just so big!

So far I've just rejoiced as evil characters got their due punishments ^^;

You get very obsessed with the series practically overnight xD.

Then you may be interested in knowing that I consider Sword to be the worst book that Mr. Brooks has written (with the possible exception of Hook, but I've never seen a copy of that one). See how you like the rest of the Shannara series, or perhaps try the Word and the Void or Landover?

...last book in the series? Heck, no - there's at least eleven of them. I've read 'em. They drag out far too much. <_>

As for what I'm reading right now...I'm not. I've been constantly running out of books since I was sixteen, and I haven't had any major windfalls lately. The book I want to (re-)read at the moment is Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, but a certain jellyfish queen has my copy of it right now. She'd better be reading it, too.

I am slowly but surely whittling my way through One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

I'm 50 or so pages in. Some day, I will finish. Some day...

I might check those out. And I didn't mean that The Sword of Shannara was the best I read, just for awhile I haven't found much interest in books I spotted. To rephrase what I said, it was a more-than-decent book IMO, and so I enjoyed it. Too bad I had to rush it, though.

Really? In the back of the book it had the list in order of publishing, and Winter's Heart was at the very bottom of that list. And what do you mean they "drag out far too much"?

Re: What book are you reading?

When that copy of the book was printed, it probably was the last one out, but others have been written since then. As for the dragging things out...let's just say that seven or eight books should've been enough for the series. Events barely move forward at all from book to book. <_>

Re: What book are you reading?

I'm rereading ?His Dark Materials. I'm currently reading The Amber Spyglass, the final installment. I'm on page one-hundred something.

And yesterday I finished the book Stargirl for class. Most people are still in the beginning, though, I just got bored and decided to read ahead.

That's true. But somehow I love watching HP movies (when they are shown on TV). I watch them with my brother and we get a kick out how **** the acting is. I've read all the books but its sort of hard to read them again because I've read most of them about three (in some cases four times) times each. I'd like to read the book 1-3 and 5 again too... no 4 though.. but maybe. As for 7, I don't know, it was exciting but it wasn't like the others... it was more serious and wasn't as layed-back and probably wouldn't be an as good re-read.

As for the book I'm reading now, it's The Alchemist.

I'm reading Astral Travel for Beginners by Richard Webster. Very interesting book which helps one to leave their physical body during sleep and explore the astral realm. Good book and I've had some progress with it too.

Re: What book are you reading?

I started reading Casino Royale the other day. For those of you that live in caves, that's the first installment in Ian Fleming's James Bond saga.

Also, everyone join my Classic Literature Club. We read things.

I love you. The Otori series is fantastic, no? I've only read Across the Nightingale Floor and Grass for his Pillow but they were both captivating. I know that there are three more (Is the fifth out yet?) so I'm going to go back and read the entire series again.

Re: What book are you reading?

I just started re-reading the American classic the Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I'm so glad I forgot half the story, cause it has a freshness to it like I just started it for the first time (I've read it twice before, last time was about 3 years ago).

Fitzgerald's writing is fantastic. Just the way everything flows, how he shows off Daisy's otherworldly charm and high spirits one moment, and then suddenly creeps into her traumatic relationship the next, is art.

If the Mona Lisa and this book were in a fire, and I had the ability to only save only one, I would choose the Great Gatsby (provided that it would have been the last copy around).

To boot, he dedicated the book to his wife, some chick named Zelda.

The Lady in the Tower by Jean Plaidy. It's a novel about Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII. It's told from her point of view, starting as a girl.

Re: What book are you reading?

I just finished reading His Dark Materials, which was an awesome series.

also just finished up reading To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, for my english class. i was surprised at how much i enjoyed reading it, since i mostly go for more fiction/fantasy books. i highly suggest reading this book, it probably wont be one you forget
