Resident Evil Book Series

Well I have had little to no interest in reading anything of late, because of this I am expecting the Space Time Continuum to shatter any minute!

Now I have seen the Resident Evil book series mentioned on the Wikipedia page a few times. I have even logged onto Amazon to read some excerpt's of the first book.

Now I am just curious, has anyone read this series based on the popular video game? If so what are your thoughts? Were they any good or were the complete crap? Also how many are there in the series? Just curious

The books that are actually based on the games I found very enjoyable to read. As for the two that aren't based on the games they were not all that good to me.

I've read all the novel books so far, and I can agree with what Otaking says. The Umbrella Conspiracy (The original Resident Evil), City of the Dead (Resident Evil 2), Nemesis (Resident Evil 3), Code Veronica (names says it all) and Zero Hour (Resident Evil 0) are all pretty decent reads, and are surprisingly loyal to the gaming series. They're accurate with the gaming history (unlike the horrid excuses for the movies)

Caliban Cove and Underworld are the two books that were created by S.D Perry, and aren't part of the official gaming series. They're not bad, and they're all pretty enjoyable reads, but as Otaking said, the two that aren't based on the video games don't seem to be as enjoyable as the ones that are.

I certainly liked all of them, and found The Umbrella Conspiracy and City of the Dead to be my two favorites of the series (Resident Evil 1+2 were one of the most enjoyable games I've played to date). The books are well-written, and offer a bit more insight into the game than you might have considered when first playing though (such as what happens to more minor characters and helps explain why they act the way they do. Barry Burton or Sherry Birkin are two examples I'll give)

So yush, I'd definitely recommend the novels as worth a read.

What I didn't even know these books existed but its good I found out now, Resident Evil is my favorite series and from what it seems books are always better and more in depth than the games or movies, if you are a fan of Resident Evil I suggest getting some of them

I read part of the first one (as in game #1 not zero) but then stopped. I have two friends who loved them. If there was a book for #4 I would read it, but its been so many years already I doubt it will be done.
