I watched the first two movies, and I watched bits and pieces of the third movie. I started on the first book but never made it through. So, I would say I'm ever so slightly acknowledged about it.

I read all three books and watched all three movies and some parts are COMPLETELY different. I'd have to say Gandalf was my favorite character out of all of them. He was wise, and knew the smartest move to make at the time of need.

I've watched all three movies and I've read the Hobbit but I haven't read the trilogy or the The Silmarillion. The Twin Towers is my favourite film ever and The Hobbit is almost my favourite book ever (the Harry Potter books are just too brilliant to be surpassed in my opinion) so I think have quite a bit of knowledge about them.

The Trilogy almost feels like they have been written by a different author and they just can't seem to keep my interest.

I would absolutely love it if they released The Hobbit as a film, that would be amazing.

Well, I saw Fellowship of the Ring without any prior knowledge or appreciation for the story, but the film was so well done I picked the book up and read it solid for about a week. I then progressed (regressed? :p ) to the Hobbit which I did enjoy, just not as much as it's successor.

Obviously, I went to see the last two movies and that was about it for me. I did make an attempt to read the Silmarillion, but it was a painful, painful read. I could not settle into it one bit.

So, in answer to the poll, knowledgeable, but not fanatical.

wHEEE Lord of the Rings! ^ ^
My father used to tell me parts of The Hobbit yeas ago, and then he bought me the book- I read iit and was given the trilogy, so I read that too! Then when the first movie came out, I was ECSTAtIIIIIC, I watched all three...*<3's LoTR's!*
Hmmm...I must've watched the movies a gazillion times, but when I try to re-read the books I cant seem to manage it ;__; I think I'd be abe to read the Hobbit again, I seeeem to have liked it moar- *would try it now, cept she lost that book a while ago* :p
I'll borrow it or something sometime soon! I never got to read the Silmarillion, *shall try that too!* I still love the movies but I'm not obsessed with them anymore, or the books; they're still one of my favourites though. ^^ (movies not the books, I think there's a load more books which I definitely enjoyed more than LoTR'S, even if I only just realized that a second ago while I was typing this out)

Nice thread! *Goes to make a mental note to watch her DVD of Fellowship of the Ring again soon*
