X-Men

What X-Men character (Or character that interacted with the X-Men example, Magneto.) do you think is the best?

I'd say that Scarlet Witch is the best since she can change probability at will, but her mood and condition she's in can prevent her from using her power effectively.

I'd want to be Magneto since he can levitate metal objects and because there's a magnetic field around earth, he can fly and most likely levitate other objects manipulating the magnetic field.

Interesting that you put Pyro in the poll, he's been dead for quite some time I believe.

Scarlett Witch has also lost her abilities, and apparently her memory as well, as of a couple years ago at this point.

My favourite currently active X-Men character is probably Jamie Madrox, the Multiple Man. The series starring him, X-Factor is probably the best X-book out, at least it was until the Messiah CompleX, since a bunch of titles have been either reformatted or overhauled. Not for his powers, though, but just for the character.

Out the choices in the poll, probably Iceman or Nightcrawler.

^ Pyro....died? Wow, I should have kept up to date with things.

Anyway, I've always favored Rogue. I just like the idea of a character being able to drain someones power to the point of destroying them, then being able to use their powers for some time after that, or just "borrowing" their powers for a period of time without fatally damaging them. Makes her pretty versatile, if she can handle the stolen powers, that is. Besides, she's pretty damn strong without stealing other mutants abilities.

I wish the Hollywood movies had portrayed her much better.

He died awhile ago. He had the Legacy Virus but sacrificed himself to save Senator Kelly's life before that took him out.

Rogue is strong because she touched Ms. Marvel and the absorbtion was permanent, so that is still technically because of her powers. Although I'm not sure if that left her along with everything else at the end of Messiah CompleX. Anywho, she also has the weakness that she also gets parts of people's minds and personalities to go with the powers, which has threatened her sanity more than once. That's what is great about the X-Men though, they have these powers, but also have flaws as either people or with the powers or both.

"Death" means nothing in the Marvel Universe There have been countless characters whom have come back from the grave one way or another.

I'm considerably a "new" fan of the X-men. Ok, so the series started in the early 60's but not many ZUers were alive then I have many favorite classic mutants, but recently my favorite character is relatively a new one: Cassandra Nova (aka: Professor X' evil twin sister). To quote wikipedia, she's "a parasitic life form born bodiless on the astral plane...who possesses vast mutant telepathic powers...some psionic powers..., including the ability to exit the womb and create a body.". Not only a threat to the X-men, but to mutants all over. Her most amazing feat was wiping out 16 million mutants on the island of Genosha by copying the DNA of the last Trask so that all Sentinels will be in her command. For her final act she attempted to kill all mutants with the aid of Cerebra (sounds a little like X-men 2). Comic book-wise I've been following the X-men since Grant Morrison started writing in New X-men (and I've been collecting ever since...well at least his run on it. Currently, I'm trying to catch up on what I've missed), and Cassandra Nova is a new threat to the X-men that has appeared quite a few times.

I haven't really been liking 616 marvel for awhile now, since Avengers Disassembled really :\. Some of the story lines have been just terrible, I'm looking at you One More Day.

However, the best x-men comic going right now has to be X-factor, Layla and Madrox are awesome. fact.

I was just pointing out that Pyro has been dead for some time now, I wouldn't say people would have "forgotten" about him, but generally you include active characters in a list of favourites, I guess. Except Jean, because it's...well it's Jean.

I've never liked Cassandra Nova. Maybe because I never quite understood her existance for a long time, and even once I finally got it, it still seemed overly complicated. Still, I really enjoyed reading X-Men: The End which she played a pretty big role in.

I only started reading New X-Men when Craig Kyle and Chis Yost took over, and that's pretty much when I started getting into collecting and reading comics again in general (having done so when I was little). I've meant to go back and get Morrison's run, since it's apparently one of the best runs in X-Men history.

Gambit is my fav
Powers
Gambit has the mutant ability to tap into the potential energy contained within an object and transform it into kinetic energy upon touching it. When Gambit thus charges an object and throws it at a target, the object releases this energy explosively on impact. Gambit is unable to use this power to charge living objects.

After surgery performed by Mister Sinister, Gambit's powers were restored to their natural potential. He was able to use his power simply by looking at an object that he wished to charge, including living tissue. Gambit could also manipulate the potency of the energy release and could even exercise a measure of control over time. Following his climactic battle with the New Sun, Gambit lost this enhanced level of power.

Gambit's ability to tap energy also grants him near-superhuman agility and dexterity, as well as creating a static interference that shields his mind from detection and intrusion by even the most powerful telepaths.

Gambit also possesses a hypnotic charm that allows him to exert a subtle influence over any sentient mind. This power allows Gambit to compel others to believe what he says and agree with anything he suggests. More powerful minds have proven immune to Gambit's charm.

Wolverine. He has an unbreakable skeleton, healing powers, and an excellent sense of smell. He's also a bit dark, and has an interesting past.

He does have a problem fighting Magneto, though, since adamantium is metallic.

I'm not really big on X-Men, so I'm not up to date on stuff. I read once that Wolverine can't really be killed, and that his enemies had to drop his skeleton into a vat of acid to keep his healing powers from reforming him. That kind of makes him immortal.
