Hockey VS Football.

Well, here's a unique thread. One about sports.

Anyway, I was talking to my friend about sports. He likes football (soccer) and I like hockey (ice hockey). I prefer hockey for several reasons. It's faster, it's more exciting, it's more physical, it's more fun to watch, it's easier to respect a,d it's more popular in America.

Plus, everything is cooler on ice. (LOLPUN)

There are two reasons why I am comparing these sports:

-Obviously, you shoot an item into a net blocked by a goalie in both sports. They both have similar principles and rules.

-They are recognized as the two "international" team sports.

EDIT: I clicked the "Poll" check box, but it didn't come up. What the hell.

Football. I have a permanent dislike of anything using an ice rink after I fell on my ass so hard when I went ice skating some time.

I was really into football once upon a time, and it is fun to occasionally watch, but I still have to go for hockey (YAYCANADA). I play floor hockey mostly every sunday, and it's fun. I can't skate very well, and I move better with sneakers anyways.

So, yes, hockey for me.

Football 100%.

Football (to play or to watch) is so exhilarating. I love the game, always have and always will. You can say what you will about football, but there is a reason that it is the most watched sport in the world.

(This should porbably be in the Misc. Entertainment section)

I like football because of the game.
I like hockey because of the fights.

Hockey shoves fireworks up footballs wazooka...

Hockey is so much better than football on so many levels, the strategy, the thrill, the violence, the offence and defence...oh, and minus the amatuer dramatics when a pro hockey player falls over...they don't writhe around on the floor crying, they jump up, spit out thier knocked out teeth and keep on playing

Hockey is damned amazing

Could all of you at least give better arguments against hockey than "I could never watch it" and "I fell on a ice surface"???

Hockey is the fastest team sport in the game, it flows and never stops, Soccer in comparison is a world of boring. The only reason soccer is popular worldwide is because its quite more accessible than hockey because all you need is a ball.

- In hockey you have 10 players and 2 goalies fighting over a chunk of vulcanized rubber that they shoot at speeds over 110MPH

- They don't do wussie dives to get attention or get someone punished

- they solve their own problems in the rink no need for referees.

- The goals are insane

- Scott Stevens enough said.

Couple of comparison videos

I just find this grosly repetitive :O YouTube - Champions League Top 10 Goals 2007 www.melbshuffle.com
VS
Creativity and skill! YouTube - NHL Top 10 Goals 2006-2007

Goalies actually make saves unlike these guys who make 10 saves a year. YouTube - top 10 saves by goalkeepers of all time
VS
YouTube - Top 10 best 06-07 NHL saves

And like I said... Scott Stevens.

You want a better argument?
I was brought up with football
you feel a far greater conection with footballers
in hockey you need to wear all sorts of protective clothing and in soccer you just get a ball and play
you can't just play hockey in the street
it is just far more entertaining and watchable.

I absolutely love football, and hockey is great to watch!

Football. by far. I'm not sure about hockey but when you watch a football match you feel pride supporting your team and you can feel the passion and makes you feel involved in the match. Also in football you got teh skillz.

Hockey is okay and it's quite fun but I must say they have better fights than in football.

Fair enough, I don't watch or play much hockey but I still think football is better however the skills in hockey look good too.

...Yes... Yes you can. I've done it several thousand times. In fact, I'd say it's much easier to get a hockey game going in the street than a soccer game.

Nonetheless, hockey and soc... er, football are my 2 favorite sports. I've always just liked hockey more, since I grew up right as the Avalanche were coming to Colorado and delivering stanley cups. I'm also a kick-awesome floor hockey and broomball player, whereas I've not played much soccer in my life. Plus hockey is (at least in america) a quite intense game to watch live, while Soccer can get slightly boring at times (plus if you go down by 2 in soccer, you really are screwed. I've never actually seen my team get up from a 2 goal deficit. Then again, Celtic rarely goes down by 2. )

Well i guess you can play hockey in the street but it's still easier i think to play football. Your team is Celtic? I support a team called Celtic, does your team have any connection to mine?

Considering you're from Scotland, I'm assuming we're both talking about Celtic FC from Glasgow? Yes, then.

Beg to differ??? ummmm you've got no chance

Anyway im sure there will be Celtic supporters in America because there's a lot of Irish people living over there and i know a lot of people from Ireland support Celtic.

By the way just because i live in Ireland doesn't mean i'm Irish and a lot of Irish people like Barca anyway.
