Re: Patriots VS Giants
Quote:
Asante Samuel is a very good Cornerback, definately a top 10 Corner. D-Hall - He is very talented but his attitude is a huge problem. Ty Law is way past his prime Ellis Hobbs was never that good to begin with. There is a very underrated CB who plays for the Raiders, his name is hard to pronounce though. |

Re: Patriots VS Giants
Agreed. I don't have him in my top 10 though, because he wasn't as good this year, but I believe he had 8 INTs last year, and he was a huge reason why the Raiders had a good pass defense

Not so with Eli. Not on that last drive. No one would compare that to one of Brady's works of art. Some of Eli's old demons showed up: miscommunication with recievers, errant throws to the other team, and the playclock (there's a reason RB Jacobs attacks it after scoring a TD). To add upon all that, the Pats defensive frontline were breathing down his neck on every play. Still, even after every mistake, even under the immense pressure of the moment, Eli still believed in himself, remained composed, and delivered a preformance you really can't compare to the likes of the elite. From this day on, whenever a QB stares down all the odds, destiny, fate and history on a final drive, Eli will be remembered. I knew I'd find it: anyone could sympathize with Tiki after this, even me. I still think he's an ass, but still, being forced to go through all that. He must feel like ****. |

Re: Patriots VS Giants
I don't think any less of Tiki for retiring when he did.
I may have done the same thing. At the time, the situation looked bleak. Their defense was mediocre [what with Strahan struggling last year and the linebackers looking pretty poor] their coach was far to strict and aggressive, there was no team chemistry, and Eli did not play well at all. Now, did he need to call out Eli in particular after retiring? no, not really. but he was giving his honest opinion. The only comment I had a problem with was when he said that it was sometimes "comical to watch Eli in the huddle" As far as he was concerned, he was holding together a bad team last year. It's understandable that he retired. The arrival of Steve Spagnola, Justin Tuck, and Eli getting hot in December changed the Giants drastically. If they hadn't lead the league in sacks, or if Eli had blown it in the first round, would everyone be dissing Tiki now? I think not

I know it wasnt perfect and he did make some mistakes not only on that drive but a few times in that game. But he got the job done, thats all that matters. Quote:
He'll be cheaper than someone like Asante Samuels or Ken Hamlin. |

Re: Patriots VS Giants
Isn't Hamlin a safety though?
I'd say I hope the Pack signs that Raiders guy, but eh, we already stole Woodson from them ![]()

Re: Patriots VS Giants
Eh, Trufant has had a couple average years and one good year. He's definitely talented, but he's not on the same level as Asante.
That said, I would love to see Green Bay go after him...but they won't. EDIT: It's all irrelevant now. Seahawks used their Franchise Tag on Trufant. He's going nowhere.

Re: Patriots VS Giants
While they're at it, they should make offers to Alge Crumpler, Lance Briggs, and Derek Smith.
There are a LOT of big namers hitting the market really.

Re: Patriots VS Giants
Today was a sad day in Football country. Brett Favre, at the age of really old, has retired. Talking trash to all my GB buddies will never be the same.
Oh yes, on another note, going back to that amazing David Tyree catch, has it been officially named yet? I saw an interview with Tyree where he said his favorite was, get this, "David and Eliath" That's brilliant, and it fits the game so well, I wish I came up with it. |

Re: Patriots VS Giants
Honestly, I'm glad he finally retired. He's ended on a pretty good note, and Aaron Rodgers is ready to take over. Time for the next era in Packer history!
