/Begin rant.
First for those of you who don't know, This guy named Takashi Murakami is making millions of dollars on his craptastic art. That's not to say he's a bad artist or anything, it's just his art is lacking. I've seen a LOT better pencil drawings on this site and DeviantArt and all other art sites on the web. I don't see why suposedly good artists are just posting there work on the Internet instead of seelling your own talent. I'd do this If maybe I wern't 11. My art and writing skills I demonstarte everywhere and once I get to know a few more people, here. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why are suposedly good artists are just posting there work on the Internet instead of exploiting their own talents? :moodswing Here is some of the art. / end rant. huff huff... Yes I agree with you art really has taken a turn for the worst. Long ago good art would have been a portrate of someone or a nice landscape but now it seem like any thing can be passed of as good art. Seriously I went to an art gallery and some "artist" had painted a canvas white and sold it to the gallery that just isn't art at all in my opinion, also cutting some poor animal in half and putting it in a tank of phamaldahyde shouldn't be found in a gallery it should be found in a science lab. If anyone with actual talent was to show their art to an art gallery it would just get called crap, even when there are these nonsensical mostrosity all over the place makeing some talentless so called artists millionairs. It really does piss me off. Grrr.

Because in order to have any chance of selling a work you first have to get noticed and the internet is one of the ways to do this. Take for instance Space Coyote, a very talented artist who came to my attetnion when everyone was tlaking about her Simpsons and Futurama anime style fan art. Without the internet and the fans and admirers she gained there she probably wouldn't have been hired to do the manga section of simpsons comics issue 134, here is an example of that section . Secondly many others probably have no desire to make art there profession either because it is merely a hobby or they would prefer a steadier source of income. Others probably have the notion that great art should be free and shared by all people of the world.
I do however agree that some artists should just not be given grants or regonition due to works that only invoke disgust despite the artists arguing that it triggers some different emotional response or represents something. |
