Board and Card Games

Does anybody play any board and card games? In particular I mean newer ones (often called euro games).

Current games I really enjoy playing:

-Carcassonne (Awesome tile laying, scoring game. Good fun with my family)
-Battlelore (Awesome and not too long strategy game)
-World of Warcraft the Board Game (Very long but worth a saturday when friends are over)
-Roborally (Chaos incarnate. Fun fun)
-Gladiator (Fun dice fest battle game)
-Lord of the Rings the Board Game (Co-op survival game)
-Chinese Wall (Planning Card Game)
-Four Dragons (Group trick taking game)

Anyhow what games do you have and what are your thoughts about board games. I think they are great, especially because of the social interaction.

Have a nice day,

Sander K.

You know it, brother! Real gamers play more than just video games! I'd probably be a total shut-in if board/card games weren't still around. The most popular game among the people I play with is still Risk, but you wanted to know about newer games, so here are some other things we like:

- RoboRally (Crazy stuff. Yeah, it's awesome.)
- Pretty much anything else from Avalon Hill
- Settlers of Catan
- Munchkin + expansions (card game)
- Other things I know I'm forgetting :/

I'm drawing a lot of blanks right now, unfortunately, but they're almost always strategy games. It's usually just plain old Risk though, but we wouldn't play it if it wasn't fun. I love how politics matter in board games like this; how you have to play the other players as well as the actual game itself. For my group, this means lots of taunts, threats, and reckless displays of bravado. Great times.

My one complaint is that I have thus far not been able to experience Diplomacy, supposedly the greatest of them all. I picked up a used copy from the '70s at a local hobby shop a few years ago, but I still haven't been able to convince people to learn the rules, much less set aside an entire day for it. Maybe someday...

EDIT: I will not be satisfied until another person posts here. I know there are more of you out there somewhere.

Diplomacy is AMAZING!!! I played it with a 14 player group and it is fantastic! You should definitely try it out! Btw, this thread talks about board & card games, any board & card games. I am more into new games, that's all.

Cool to meet a fellow game fan,

Sander K.

I played Yu-Gi-Oh, then my mom had to get all insane christian on me, and I had to sell my $400, tournament 2nd-placer deck for $125. that was gay. But, yeah, I know alot about it, and would always have a discussion about it. (strategies, questions, general gameply)

I play occasional games
Carcassone (territory controling strategy game)
Shadows over Camelot (A sort of co-op game where there is a planted traitor)
Lord of the Rings (co-op game)
Major mind break, I can't think of more, though I do play them. Has anyone here ever played the Lord of the Rings TCG? That was a blast, one of the greatest games though it was short lived. The developers made a few big goofs that pretty much killed it. I also used to collect those little 3D pirate ships but I never learned to play.
