Am I the only one who is dead sick of Wolverine?

Well, first off, I would like to say that Wolverine is one of the most awesome comic book characters of all time. Simply put, he's a fan favorite for a reason.

But does he HAVE to be known as the pnnacle of all things x-men related? It's getting so that he's becoming the main character now, which is crap. I mean, the franchise is called X-MEN not "wolverine and the x-men." He's not the only character.

I mean, how many times do you really need to be told the weapon X story?Ok, yeah, Wolverine was a weapon created by William Stryker along with Sabertooth. WE KNOW. Marvel has told this same tired story over and over again. I'm just sick of it.

A new X-men cartoon is going to be released next year. The focal point is (!!!) Wolverine. When I heard this I almost immediatly lost interest. Why does x-men ALWAYS have to be about Nightcrawler, Cable/Dead pool or Wolverine?

Hell, Gambit is a perfectly interesting character. Give him the spotlight for once. Or Psylocke. Or hell, even lame x-men like rockslide or Jubilee would be a good change of pace.

Wolverine is given the spotlight because he is, on the surface, the most interesting character in the series. A man who has no idea about his past, but somehow has a skeleton made of adamantium and claws. I am inclined to agree with you, that he does get a lot of attention in the movies, but that's because there is such a demand for him. For every fan like you who is sick to death of his story there are ten new fans with each movie who want to see more of him.

Funnily enough, I read an interview with one of the writers of X-Men: Evolution and he said they didn't focus on Gambit because

Those are very much the same reasons that cause there to be such a focus on characters like Wolverine and Nightcrawler and Cable. When they are first introduced they are so mysterious and so strong in terms of character they steal the show.

Re: Am I the only one who is dead sick of Wolverine?

I know all about that. That was the orginal reason I liked Wolverine. At this point however, the only people who don't know about Wolverine's past are new comers. The story has been told. more than once. More than five times. I just would like for the series to do something different.

O h man, evolution, bad memeories. Unhappy memories.

Re: Am I the only one who is dead sick of Wolverine?

I love Wolvie, and his is one of Marvel greatest, and most lucrative assets, but I do agree that he is over-exposed, despite my Wolvie Fanboyism - for the sheer fact that I'm worried that with more concentration on Wolverine, the morecliched hel'll become, and loose the mystique he initially had.

I mean, the Origin Series was insightful, but I admit, by answering all the questions people have asked, what with James Howeltt and such, it almost completely stripped him of the intrique to his character.
I guess back in the New X-men, and maybe comics in general at the time, it was a fresh and new, novel idea for the Anti-Hero, which Wolvie filled Nicely - and the fact that he was basically a five foot three hairball was cool, as it broke with Tall, dark stranger very well.

Of course, this is what made him so popular, and with the 'Tragic past' element, he was a great character - it's kinda sad how almost all Anti-Heroes have the same mould.

Anyways, in relation to Wolverine, his search for the past was what made him unique, he would find a clue to his identity, only to discover that the memory was flase, or that it lead him to even more questions.

Elaborating on the answers to these are what 'll bring him down as a character, but unfortuantly, it is one of the key aspects to his character.

The X-Movies Portray him quite well despite obvious height difference, but overall, I think his screen time was fine, but to actually base a whole new series on him for the Telly is a bit much, and his cliche rating is bursting at the seams as it is - I think we have enough Wolvie as it is.

If anything, I think some insight to Cyclops should be made, I mean, he basically dissapeared for the whole movie in X2, and with the rumours in X3...

Re: Am I the only one who is dead sick of Wolverine?

I wasn't always that into the X-men or anything, but I never liked him in the first place. The only thing I ever liked about him was this thing about him, S.H.I.E.L.D., and Captain America which I never really did find out much about. Lucky me, I got to beat him up with my fav character, Venom, in Ultimate Spider-Man.
