Favorite Stand-Up Comic
In this topic we will talk about our favorite stand-up comics, and tell our favorite joke or quote by that comic, unless of course the forums woudn't allow it. You know what I mean.
My favorite stand-up comic is Demetri Martin, love the guy's jokes. Dry humor fuels me. Demetri Martin: Nice shirt. Soft, cotton or something.. Best Buy Employee: You need certain values to wear a blue shirt at Best Buy. Demetri Martin: Yeah, you need a torso. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

But my vote for favorite/best stand-up comic, is definitly Mitch Hedberg. Absolutly the funniest guy i've heard. Quote:

Re: Favorite Stand-Up Comic
Dennis Miller.
I don't know why; the guy is simply hilarious to me. Mostly because he's the only stand-up comedian I've ever seen that doesn't merely assume the audience isn't stupid, but assumes the entire audience are Rhodes Scholars. He's throw in these really super intelligent words and references, and I laugh at them, even if I don't really understand the reference. He really proves that it's all in the delivery. Sometimes, I do look up some of the tough vocabulary and it makes the joke even better. The guy's got a style about him. I wish I could deliver jokes like Dennis Miller.

Re: Favorite Stand-Up Comic
Jim Gaffigan, an up and rising comic, look out for hiim, he's great, and he's also clean, VERY family friendly yet fricken hilarious
Dave Chappelle, my favourite black comic over cosby and pryor, chappelle is just down right hilarious, and his recent interveiw with james (shames) lipton really gets down into the core of who chappelle is, he's wonderful.

I loved how he would pretend to be in the audience himself, and say what everyone was thinking.

Re: Favorite Stand-Up Comic
Some of my favorite stand-up comedians:
Dane Cook - What can I say, the guy is hilarious. I've heard a couple of comedy clips from him, it made me laugh a lot. Favorite joke has to be the one about naming his kids. Pablo Francesho (sp?) - This guy is like the Latino version of Robin Williams; he does some good voice impressions and can crack some good humor like Robin Williams can. George Carlin - If you have ever seen Dogma, you'll know about his great humor. Pretty witty, but crude.

Re: Favorite Stand-Up Comic
I'd be torn between Lewis Black and Mitch Hedberg. And since their styles differ so greatly, I'll go with both.
Other notables that I find incredibly funny: George Carlin Stephen Lynch Robin Williams Jim Gaffigan Dane Cook (I didn't think he was that funn at first - but he really grew on me. Funny guy.)

Re: Favorite Stand-Up Comic
Eddie Murphy or Bill Cosby. Actually it might be Eddie Murphy's impression of Bill Cosby. I think Cosby brought so much to stand up comedy and every single part of his bits are funny, all of his mannerisms really accentuate the stories involved. Eddie Murphy did a few things in Raw that I didn't think were to good but Delirious is the best stand up act I've ever seen. Those two are followed closely by Kenvin James (Sweat the small stuff, he's in the King of Queens) and then many others who are great but aren't my favorites:
Lewis Black Jeremy Hotz Pablo Fransisco Zach Galafinakis Dave Chapelle Dane Cook Rodney Carrington Richard Pryor And others that escape me at the moment. |

![]() For those of you who have never heard of Lewis Black, his stand-up acts suggest that he could have a heart attack at any minute. The man works himself into such rages that he sometimes can't even form words. He just makes noises. Anger and comedy is a nice mix. "Have you ever read the ingrediants on sunblock? I'VE NEVER SEEN THOSE WORDS ANYWHERE!" |

Re: Favorite Stand-Up Comic
Billy Connolly. I know he had a lot of bad press a couple of years back, but this is one man that can have me in tears every single time.
Lee Evan's too. Great physical comedy. I got a Chris Rock DVD and a Roy Chubby Brown DVD for Xmas, but they were only so-so. Half the guy's mentioned in previous post's I don't even know. ~ Adhamh. |
