Your opinion on Harry Potter....

Please post your opinion on the HP book series, and why you like/dislike it.
I personally like it beacause I like to read a good book every now and then but I am annoyed because the series won't last much longer.....

Well, I used to like the books of Harry Potter. they were exciting books. Well, I don't know if I'm going to buy the new book : The halfblood prince. I'm not that interested anymore.

Re: Your opinion on Harry Potter....

Well, there was a point where I was totally obssesed with Harry Potter books. Now I am still a fan, but not as big. I really hate how J.K. Rowling has killed off all the best characters... You know how she killed off Sirious and THEN Dumbledore. I really hated that. I also don't like that there are only seven books in the series. Other than that I enjoy the complexity of the books and how everything seems to be connected to something else. Even though I have read the books at least two times each if not more I STILL don't understand the whole content of the book.....

I like it for the most part, but it's annoying how Sirius died, then Dumbledore died. I'll bet you that some weird magic makes Sirius come back, or something. Also, I'll bet that McGonagal becomes the new Headmistress. Booya.

Re: Your opinion on Harry Potter....

I always like reading the Harry Potter books. It's sad when, well you know what happens, but that's just part of the story. The last book wasn't as good as the rest, but I'll definitely finish out the series.

Re: Your opinion on Harry Potter....

I personally don't like the concept of Harry Potter. I've read the first two books and didnt really like them because I found them a bit too weird. I love good fantasy-books but compared to them I just thought Harry Potter wasnt any good. A bit too childish perhaps.

I also dislikes how there has been made so much merchandise to it. It kind of helps to make it a bit less serious.

Re: Your opinion on Harry Potter....

I don't really like them all too much. I've always found them quite boring and dull, and at this point in time, very cliched.

Of course, finding any fantasy series without a cliche is utterly impossible these days...

The first two books are the worst. The last 3 (4, 5, 6) are the best.

Anyway... I like it. I finished the 6th book about a month or something ago.

Personally, I always felt that Dumbledore had to be killed off, or die somehow, I mean, whatever te evils Harry encounters, Dumbledore is always there, it seems, to set him on the right direction, especially in the Prisinor of Azkaban, with his influence to make Hermione use her Time Turner to change te past.
As a result, I saw it only natural to see him taken out of the book, that way, the last book is that much more powerful - this time, Harry will have no Protector or Guardian to save him, or nudge him in the right Direction.

I loved the books at first, but after Prisoner of Azkaban, I felt that the books, while as energetic as ever, really lacked the naivity the characters had in the earlier books, and while this symbolicaly could show the trio's growth, and their acknowledged understanding of their obstacles, it took away some of the essences that I was drawn too - they became a little 'too epic' if that makes any sense...I doubt it does ^_^;

I haven't bothered reading the sixth book, I doubt I will, since I found the fifth book really anticlimatic, with the resurrection of Voldermort in the Goblet of Fire, I expected him to play a much more active role, and to leave him to the end of the book, and give him followers which more-or-less seemed like the Scooby Gang, in terms of relevance was a little rushed, I mean, it was fun to see the Hogwarts students now strong enough to take on Voldemort, but his followers didn't seem as powerful as they should be - and Voldemort decided to flee as Dumbledore dis and re-apparated around the ministery.

Well, they were trained by THE Harry Potter, so I don't think that it was that suprising to see all the Death Eaters get kicked. But, they didn't beat them without casualties, right?

Well, it always said in the book, at LEAST five times each book, that Voldemort always feared Dumbledore, so I don't find that really suprising.

Re: Your opinion on Harry Potter....

I believe that Rowling has dragged this on too long. I have lost interest in reading the latest one, The Half Blood Prince. Rowling, I believe, is trying to find a way to spread the whole thing out into 7 books. Probably could have done the last three in one, if she tried.

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
As deputy headmistress, she is kind of the head honcho for the time being. But people have speculated that the govenours will elect a new one. And others have even said that Hogwarts may as well not open for the next year, given that even Hogwarts has been penetrated by the Death Eaters. That and our dear Dubblydore is dead.

The Harry Potter has its flaws, I'm sure but for the most part, I've seen it as easy, smooth reading. Perhaps I'm a little childish, but I do enjoy the plot and such. Even if its a little simple, I find that you can draw some depth from it. Well, it might have not been intended, but eh. I mean, if you mark out the beggining-- the plot was very simple, but effective nonetheless. But I still like the series for what they are. I mean, it has been rare that such a book series have made kids inclined to read. *shrug* I don't have many books anyways, so eh, I've actually been modeling somewhat from her writing, which while isn't the best-- really gets in touch with the reader, I think.

Re: Your opinion on Harry Potter....

Harry Potter rocks. Why? Because I am an idiolt who is intesed in intense fantasy. I was dissapointed in the deaths....I bet -HE- comes back after falling through the portal thingy. In the 7th Harry will be near death and sirius shall be like "I will save you! POOF".

Re: Your opinion on Harry Potter....

I used to like Harry Potter, but I lost interest on the 5th book when I was in 7th grade I believe. I never even finished the 5th book and haven't even bought the 6th yet. Personally, I think there are much better books out there but if it gets kids to read, I'm not gonna complain.
