I have read all the series of unfortunate events books since they came out. I am currently in the middle of number 12 and personally I really love those books! They are so funny.
Has anyone else noticed how incredibly funny they are even though they are not really a comedy series? My favorite one in the series is The Wide Window because when it seemed that the Baudelaire orphans had found their one true home they just found more mysteries. What is your favorite? In reality they all rock, but which is your least favorite? Mine is The Slippery Slope because it really seems to not be as funny or exciting.

Re: A series of unfortunate events
I got into them about 2 or so years ago when my brother introduced me to them, and I've been reading them ever since. The books are hilarious, though Lemony Snicket tries to tell you otherwise, it just makes it funnier. The books are well written as are they fun to read. It's sad to think that the next one will be the last one ever. Now it makes me wonder what Daniel Handler (Lemony Snicket) will write next, or if he'll write again.
Anyway, I love the book series and would easily recommend the series to anyone.

Re: A series of unfortunate events
I really enjoy the Series of Unfortunate Events. Each book inspires a feeling of pathos, and yet, as has been mentioned, is undeniably humorous. I haven't read the earlier ones in a long while, and so my recollection is lacking, but I thought The Wide Window was one of the sadder of the books, due to what happened to their Aunt Josephine. (Then again, the guardian's demise The Reptile Room was very unfortunate). It is sad to think that the end is coming - I was surprised to read that in the latest book! As for my favourite, it would be The Reptile Room. I couldn't name my least favourite at the moment!

Re: A series of unfortunate events
I'm reading the Penultimate Peril right now.
![]() It's quite good, got to page fifty in about forty-five minutes. I had to stop though, to eat dinner. Then I was dragged back to ZU for a sig request. Anyways, I really do love, as Haku said, how Mr. Snicket tries to tell you his books are so horrible, yet it ends up as that being funny. I love it. It is a bit annoying though when I had to read about a page of words as if they were reflected in a mirror... o___o And in the Ersatz Elevator, I think, the two pages colored black. And In another one I can't remember, two pages were filled with the same word, along the lines of something like 'very, very, very, very...' and so on. Dunno why but that makes me like books more. Oh, and if ya'll didn't know, penultimate means 'next-to-last'. This makes the title 'The Next-to-last Peril'. Do you know what that means? There's only one more book in the series! And do you know what that book number will be? Thirteen. Ooh. Spooky.
