Ultimate Frisbee

What a sport. Recently, I've become addicted to a little game called Ultimate Frisbee. I'm hoping everyone knows what a frisbee is, but many may not know what Ultimate Frisbee is. Ultimate frisbee is a game you play with two teams. Each team usually has a fair amount of players ranging from 5-10. When your team has the frisbee you simply want to get it down to the other side of the field by the throwing to your teamates (like football). When you have the frisbee you cannot run with it you have to throw it to a teamate downfield, which is much more difficult than simply running around with the frisbee in your hand.

Over the summer me and a friend (Shiek 84 actually) discovered how much fun playing frisbee really was. I really never got into in the past. Up to about this year I wasn't even able to throw the frisbee without having it shift left and crash straight into the ground. I'm not sure what exactly got me into it, but once I figured out how to throw the damn thing I realized the potential for fun. Once you master the throwing technique of a frisbee, you never want to put it down.

There is an Ultimate Frisbee league at our school that begins in the spring and I can't wait to enter it. You create your team and take on other teams consisting of freshman to seniors. I'm quite excited to get involved with that. I don't know what it is about this sport, but I'm getting more and more addicted to it everyday. It seems like everyday you learn a new little technique that improves your game. I'm finally able to throw forehand, which I used to see as impossible.

Well yes it is a fun game. We played in our gym class as well and it has been my favorite unit so far...that is until basketball rolls around...

The thing is, must people suck in my class. Not just at frisbee, but at all sports so that really puts a damper on the fun. As long as I had one decent to great player on my team we were able to compete and usually win.

Yes tiddily winks, it is such a noble sport. but yeah my class had the exact seam problem. 87% of the class could'nt throw or catch a frisbee.

Ultimate is quite fun. I prefer smaller teams, 3-7 people to a team or so. We play it in gym, but it sucks because there are 20-30 people to a team in gym, and only the "Cool" kids or "Jocks" ever get the frisbee.

I love ultimate. It's my favorate sport to play. It's just great beacause it can be simple, but you can also do plays and things like that.

That's odd. When I play I don't always get it, but I get it alot. Most people think I'm pretty good, and I'm actually not a jock. In fact I'm kind of on the big side, but I can still catch and swat the disk. But I was also taught by a pro...

YES! UF has to be one of the most fun, and most inclusive sports game ever.
We played it ALOT in highschool, there was a small feild and every lunch we would tear up the grass. One thing I was always good for was skidding the frisbee against the ground, rebounding it back into the air, it threw quite a bit of people off guard. I also dove alot to catch the frisbee, I was a suicide player.

So do you guys like to play on blacktop or grass? Me? I prefer grass simply because the game is tons more fun playing with no shoes on.

We play it on grass. No questions asked. It is the most fun. I love playing it in a big field with no boundries, completly free and open. I've thrown the frisbee around on the blacktop, but I've never actually played a full-fledged game on it. It doesn't seem like it would be as fun. When you're playing in the grass you can do a whole lot more of this:

My school has one of the top UF teams in the county, and that's *****in'.

Blue Balls?!?!!? Well that's just goofy!

Hmmm, so your school has a top team? That is really cool seeing as our school doesn't have a team. I would love to see them start one just to see if I could compete, but I still need to try my luck with the intermurial league in the spring. From what I've played in gym in a large group I've found that with two dominate players you can take over the game.

Our school should really organize a team, but that would mean we would have to play other teams...I'm not sure if there are any around...

I played a form of that sport called Ultimate Football. It's basically the same as your game expect as you probably guessed, we use a football. It was pretty fun and even got alittle intense.

Trust me dude, I suffer the same problem. But I actually just use that to my advantage and walk/talk with my girlfriend while moving in the direction of the frisbee. Quality time rocks. But when I actually DO get my hands on the frisbee, I have a lot of fun. UF is a really great game! But it really is tiring, as was proven by everyone coming into lunch from Gym comletely DRENCHED in sweat. *no showers in our school*

I played that a couple times back in junior high, at least it was better than playing something called pickleball, yup i said "pickle" ball.

Haha, funny, i never even knew this sport was so big.

The only time I play it is just with my friends in my neighborhood. We somtimes will play it in this retention pond area because it has hills all over the place and it makes it a hell of alot harder to catch a frisbee when your running down a hill. Esspecially if your as short as I am.

Ultimate frisbee is fun! I played it alot last year. But sadly I had the worst team. I never knew it was so popular though.

Ultimate is my all time favorite game! We play it in youth group and at Cross Country practice on pre-meet days. I am glad to see so many other people like it. I think it should be a professional, or at least high school level sport.

Yeah it would definitly be cool if there was an actual team at our school. I know some schools do have this, but we are stuck with intermural sports in which you create your team, etc. It's still fun, but I think I would find an actual team much more fun.

Someday...maybe...

I love Ultimate Frisbee, even if I don't play as much anymore. I've moved on to racquetball.

It's a great sport, but I get so worn out from playing it. All that running around... Still a lot of fun though. It's great getting 10-15 people together to play a round of Ultimate on the mall.
