I've only had
Japanese food at restaurants, but as far as I can tell, it's not that much different from Korean food. They have different dishes, yeah, but the biggest difference I can tell is that Korean specialty dishes usually have a lot stronger flavor (sweet, spicy, sour) than the Japanese ones.
As an example, miso soup is a lot less pungent than deng jang soup (I could write this is Korean, but I'm not sure about an english spelling).
