I suppose a puzzle comprises both gameplay AND content. I could be wrong, but then again, defining gameplay seems to be almost as hard as defining art.

You're being incredibly vague, unless you mean that gameplay = controls in which case I'm firmly convinved you're wrong.

But like you said, what works for Mario may not work for Zelda. Mario's dramatic changes were unnecessary, but Zelda needed those changes.

It wouldn't hurt if gameplay was mixed around a bit. To me, gameplay is the experience of playing the game.

As for new content, that goes without saying.
