Yo, I don't want to bring it into the thread - but my souped up iMac only cost me $1200. I got it for half price
Even I would've bought it for that price, mate!
(well, in fact I'm buying an iMac 20" for half price to have in the kitchen, which lands the price on about 915$ - yeah, that's half....)

This is for the highest possible spec'd iMac Apple sells, so your prices seem to be about $1000 higher than the actual US prices.
    Correct.

Definitely - Mac Pro is about 52% more expensive here, same with the iMac. The Macbook Pro and standard Macbook here lies steady on about ~35% more expensive than America.

Yo, I don't want to bring it into the thread - but my souped up iMac only cost me $1200. I got it for half price, so the actual cost was $2400. This is for the highest possible spec'd iMac Apple sells, so your prices seem to be about $1000 higher than the actual US prices. Either Apple is ripping you off, or you're calculating something wrong... I suspect the former.

My MacBook Pro, also souped up, was very expensive. But I was willing to pay the crazy amount of money ($2600, didn't get this one half off) since it's almost as powerful as the iMac, and it's portable. I do have to say that iMacs score in terms of value for the quality of the parts you get - the casing really id top-notch and I never expect this thing to break.

Apple stuff is cheapest in Britain, apparently.
