Message Cocoon Mushi could be used as a cryogenic chamber, I mean, if you're ever terribly ill, you might as well try and have that Mushi make you disappear and hopefully there will be a cure for your illness by the time you're able to escape the caves years later.

Reincarnation would be awesome just for the fact that you'll be able to be "immortal" for hundreds of years (you just have to make sure you drown in the part of the ocean before you naturally die). Of course you'll look the same everytime, and act somewhat differently, but it seems like you'll hold some memory of your past life (like sayings & idioms).

Seeing into the future would only have it's advantages in the begining. Well first you'll be able to have telescopic vision, then X-ray vision, finally have visions of the past/future, and then your eyes pop out. I'm guessing she had those eyes for 10 years, that's plenty of time to get rich.

It is a manga, but I've not read it, I just own the anime.

And I, vaguely, knew about the live-action movie. Don't actually know anything about it, though.

And as for what Mushi I like the best...hard to say. Drawings coming to life would be worse than useless for me, my dreams are all wonderfully pedestrian (when I can remember them at all) so I doubt I'd notice a difference (), Message Cocoons are useful, but cell phones do much the same thing, the Reincarnation, well, wasn't. The ability to see the past and future might be useful, but I'm not sure.

Really, I don't think I'd want any of them. They seem to be more trouble than they're worth, even in the best cases.

Kino's Journey? I've never heard of it. I'll take a look at that manga (is it also an anime?) next. I just wikipedia-ed Mushi-shi, and apparently a DS game of Mushi-shi came out in Japan last year! I YouTubed it, found a trailer, and it looks like you don't even play as Ginko! Plus the game looks pretty boring (well I shouldn't expect a lot from a slow-paced anime). Not only that but there was a live action movie that came out three years ago (I'll have to search for it online later on)

I agree I love the message cocoons, which reminds me, what Mushi-shi would you like to have (I'll only list the ones that may seem advantageous):
Your drawings come to life, Your dreams come to life, Messsage Cocoons, Reincarnation, Your ability to see the past & future.

It's not just creepy, I, at least, felt for the children, too.

Mushi-Shi isn't as good as Kino's Journey when it comes to making you see both sides of an issue and presenting tough decisions, but it has its moments.

As for my favourite episode, hard to say...I don't even remember all of them, since I watched them over such an extended period of time. The Rainbow one had some of the most gorgeous animation I've ever seen, though, and the message cocoons were a fun idea.

I just saw Mushi-shi Episode 21 (about those "children" that have a hive-mind and must release spores before they die), and I have to say, that is one of the creepiest episodes so far. To bad there are only 26 episodes. I may be able to finish the rest by today (maybe I'll start reading the manga afterwards). I've got to ask, which is your favorite episode?

Checking his Wikipedia page I recognize him now.

Mmm, he could do the comic bits, but I have my doubts about him doing good drama.

Shia LaBeouf (not a great actor, but he does look a lot like Yorik) has rubbed a few elbows with some A list actors & directors in Hollywood. But His most famous roles would have to be Transformers and Indiana Jones: The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Does he ring any bells now?

Indeed, and it is a great show to put on on a rainy afternoon or similar, so that you can just sit back and watch it.
