Either way, Smash Bros will also be developed for Japan too, and Japan loves Mother. So it wouldn't make any sense (or be fair to the Japanese) to take all Mother characters/references out just for NoA's satisfaction.
Wait, when did Itoi say he wants to eliminate Mother? He said he wasn't going to make anymore after Mother 3, but last I read, he looks back on the experience with fondness.
And that rumor is entirely unfounded. Absolutely nothing is known about the next Smash Bros - it hasn't even started development yet. If nothing else, Ness and/or Lucas will probably be kept because of the unique moveset.
Well, there are different (albeit similar) characters, and totally different locations, right? Plus, scenario are different. It's just the basic concept that's the same, right?
Yeah, unfortunately Brawl did spoil a lot for me. I know the big plot things in Mother 3, like Claus and your Mother and all. But that's about all. Don't know much at all about Mother 1, though.
