I believe I called people who hated SS dinguses and then said that they need grow up because they are probably ugly... When it got edited, it made it look worse than what it was. I can't believe the people in that thread were so dense that they didn't pick up on the irony. Glad you did.

All TES games have ♥♥♥♥ty combat. Music is composed and orchestrated by Jeremy Soule, one of the most revered composers of our time. They blow SS tunes out of the water. Controls are basic: not bad, but not good. The story in TES games are always grand, ambitious and impressive, but never "OMG I shat my pants!". They are on par with Zelda stories or better in most cases. Graphics are better than SS, but not as amazing as other current gen games. Art direction and overworld design are both incredibly beautiful. As for your character, you decide who he is and where he's from. It's not pre-determined for you.

I'm just tired of the phrase. It's obviously "in" for whatever reason.

I don't mind criticism in general and I can get behind a lot of it. Overly linear? Sure. Too much hand-holding, text, and game play interruptions? Absolutely.

But I think there is something to be said about enjoying the game in peace regardless of what others say. When I'm actually playing the game, it's arguably my favorite Zelda. When I come on ZU and try to think about it critically, inevitably I end up dwelling on some of its lower points. For me, the payoff is worth it because the satisfaction I get from discussing and evaluating the game is more than any game itself could ever offer. It almost "extends" the life of the game in a way.

I enjoy ripping a game a new ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ every now and then (and indeed, I've done it to Skyward Sword) but most of the criticism I read is incredibly banal and lacking in much insight. On the other hand, you have members like Hylian Dan, Common Knowledge, or Kee Something that can offer a thoughtful critique that is actually interesting to consider and I feel like I learned something having read it.

Sky Keep, from what I've played (all of 10 minutes) seems to be ingenious in its design. This game is so amazing on so many different levels I can't even express it properly. I'm not even done with the ♥♥♥♥ing thing either!

I got to Sky Keep, finally. I got everything. All goddess cubes, all gratitude crystals, and all heart pieces and life medals. 81 hours to do all that and get to Sky Keep. And I'm not a slow player. This game is amazing.

Wow. I read your post on Grok's wall, and I must say that I'm shocked that you are only 13. Even if I don't always agree with what you have to say (I agreed with your VM to Grok), you do know how to back up your opinion. It's crazy to think that I'm dealing with people 10 years older than you, and they still can't do that. If there is a disagreement, they go straight to personal insults instead of using their brains to muster up a thought.

Good work. Reading yours and Grok's posts get me really excited to finally play SS (which is still weeks away for me; thanks, school).

EDIT: Hey, you were born the year Ocarina of Time first came out--the year I became a Zelda fan. I can't believe that was over a decade ago! I distinctly remember being at my grandma's house when my cousin brought over his N64 and a game called Zelda. I was blown away! The world was so big and colorful.

I'm surprised by how poorly SS seems to have been received. Some people's opinions I respect, others just have incredibly bad taste. For example, if you share my general antipathy towards TP, but for what I consider the "wrong" reasons, I have less respect for your opinion than someone I disagree with who reasons well.

I have a sneaking suspicion that much of the negative reaction toward SS is veiled dislike of the art-style or motion controls. However, detractors do not want to come across as shallow to others or themselves, so they attempt to justify their viewpoint on other grounds, which has led to some hilariously contradictory viewpoints (ex: SS has no sense of urgency, yet suddenly we're ignoring that this actually describes TP. In fact, SS has a more pressing threat than any Zelda outside of MM).

I just finished the game about an hour ago. I can't understand why people are lukewarm about this game. I seriously question people's judgement, but I guess it all is a matter of opinion in the end.

Pretty much just posting to say "this is spam/offtopic/theres another thread on this/this needs closing."

It's not a big thing at all - it's just better (and more effective) to report a post so a mod can deal with it is all. :]
