delete the roleplaying section or turn it into the main attraction of the site, or simply focus on 2d zelda games, since the bigger zelda communities focus mostly on the 3d games. It's kinda hard to say, what you should do, just keep in mind that ZU didn't start its forums the way they are now, there were very few sections.
(by the way, never ever add a chatroom, but create an IRC channel, chatrooms kill forum activity)

and I've seen the Laundry Pool before, it still needs a lot of improvement imo.

I checked it out already, I can't say I'm interested. One Zelda forum is good enough for me. You should see if they want to be affiliated with ZU though, that would get them a lot of new members.
