By the way, if you ever have to make a choice between using one sword or two, remember this:

    Heh, thanks, you too.
I used to get into rather heated discussions in the SD years ago, then stopped when I decided it really wasn't worth it. I'm really only posting now because I prefer not to be misrepresented.
Strangely enough, I think the SD may have helped on my mission. There were times when someone would start chewing me out and yelling about my beliefs, and I simply didn't care at all. I could easily say "Thank you, sir, have a good one," and walk away from it, so that was a nice blessing for me.

Things really got funny when hobos would randomly approach us on the street and start preaching. Apparently the Transfiguration of Jesus took place after the crucifixion. Go fig.

I'm in favor of there being a rule that only people with top hats, a monocle, cane, white gloves, pocket watches, and a suit with a tailed coat should be permitted to post in SD. It promotes polite conversation.

Totally agreed on that, actually. When I was a missionary, I learned pretty quick that just hitting people with a single verse from the Bible rarely ever convinces people.

Hey, thanks for your respect and maturity in the Mormon thread. I really appreciate it. Most Mormon threads in the past have turned into flame wars, which has made me really hesitant to participate in any others.

Well we call it the council of 12 but they call it a "committee" in which it isn't.

It's a group who the President gave power to with 12 members, 6 from the Senate and the other 6 from the house I believe.

    Super Congress

So basically what this is, is if they run a bill through the congress and it isn't approved, well the President can approve it anyway by taking it to his little so-called "committee". The president has gave some of Congress power to the committee. This is total treason.

Obama has already stated he is going to "go under the radar" to enforce his laws.

Doing this is not constitutional. Disregard what Vulpas said

You're right. I read the Bible and prayed and God told me I was a sack of ♥♥♥♥ gayhomo. So I decided that I wasn't going to be a homosexual anymore, reversing my first complete and total choice to be a homo a while ago because it sounded fun. Thank you so much for your guidance.

Nothing in particular, just curious. You're pretty vocal about your views in the SD so I figured it must've been for awhile (which would be ten years, I believe?)

The preacher at my church speaks of his childhood here and there. It wasn't until he was in his teens that he became a Christian.

hey man, if you don't mind me asking, when did you become a Christian?

Okay, here's the reality we all live in, you me, everybody else. When I go to church, literally everyone there believes this verse applies to all men. When I go to other churches (often) they all believe this verse applies to all men. When I look anywhere online, all sources agree this verse applies to all men. I cannot bring you to where I am. All I can do is point to the sources. If you cannot present any evidence to the contrary my point stands.
Your sources don't indicate a majority. All they tell us is that a large number of people (not necessary a majority) believe what you say they believe.

Same deal with all the people in the churches you go to.

Do you realize just how large a group you're speaking for?

He and John had claimed that it was not a majority view that that verse applied to people other than Paul himself. I had claimed that it was, and not just the majority view, but nearly, if not every Christian/Preacher/Lay Person/Scholar/Theologian believed that verse applied to everyone and not Paul alone.

In order to prove my point, that it was the vast majority's view, I posted a simple google search on that scripture alone. It listed hundreds of links.
I'm trying to prove a point: that a Google search is not evidence of a majority.

If you believe it is, then I am just as logical in saying that God does not exist.

I dunno, as much as I like the man, his acting was a bit over the top at times, but overall I enjoyed that film. Also, there was totally some Ho Yay going on between the two main characters. :p

Clearly, the majority believe that God does not even exist. You can't prove me wrong therefore I'm right.

It is an absolute fact that the Christian community always has believed that scripture aplies to all mankind and you, nor PS, nor John have any proof otherwise.
Wow, an arbitrary claim that's said to be true because I can't prove it wrong. Can't say I've not encountered any of those before.

"Everyone you've ever known" doesn't constitute a majority either, especially considering that not everyone you know may share your opinion.

The scary thing about that movie? It did a damn good job on predicting when we would discover the greenhouse effect.

Not saying that I think global warming is true, its moreso climate change and even then, that's mostly nature itself. However, that movie is quite freaky in how well it predicted things.

Evidence of a majority, am I not mistaken?

Google is not evidence of a majority.

Because a Google search does not indicate a majority. At best, it indicates a few hundred.

I can't be bothered looking for it, but you pulled such a tactic on me back in the religion thread.

The problem is that it looks like you're giving up. We're justified in not backing up your position. You aren't justified in not backing up your own position. If you were so confident in the google results, pulling out one of them and quoting it would have shut us up immediately.
