you misunderstood me. カ is the symbol for ka, but when translating english words to katakana when there is no actual japanese equivalent it's is often used to replace a "k" in the middle of a word, since katakana is used to spell foreign names and words in japanese.

Actually it's both. Because there is no solid letter for "k' in Katakana, the "ka" symbol is used.

And in actuality I've used the wrong symbol anyway, since when pronounced in japanese it would be "Azeriku" I've only spelt Azerik romaji style but with katakana symbols. For proper spelling in japanese it would be ア(A)ゼ(ze)リ(ri)ク(ku)
