Animating is a lot more broad so you should have a lot more opportunities with that than with game design I reckon. Work experience with the BBC should definitely help on your CV for that too

Indeed, that is why I have picked Computer Animation as my Firm choice, and Game Design as my insurance choice. Hopefully, I will get the course I want. I decided to put Computer Animation as my first choice because I heard that about the industry, and it will also allow me to specify in a particular area. It's also broader so even if I don't get into the games industry I still have other animating options. Advertising and stuff is big business, and I did work experience at the BBC so that will hopefully work to my advantage as well. Woop Just all relies on exam results now!

Hm, that's interesting at least. There's a college around here that specifically caters for game design degrees actually, although you'll definitely want to expand your skillset and ensure it's not the only qualification you have, since I remember reading an article about how game companies would actually prefer not to employ people who specifically only have a degree for videogame design. Still, as you say, the whole diversity schtick may work to your advantage

Game Design, more specifically animation/texturing/modelling. Most people say they want to do it and never actually persue it, but I'm doing it at University now. Hopefully I'll get somewhere with it, there are a few companies around here, and maybe being female will give me some advantage (company diversity and all that.) Especially if my skillset improves and I'm more experienced.

What job are you after? I'm hoping to specialise in criminal law, which is government-paid rather than privately (mostly) so obviously it doesn't pay nearly as much, but what price can you put on Justice?

Yeah~ To be honest, the job I'm going for won't make me rich. It's nice if you have a career that you love and it pays lots too, but it's just the luck of the draw what people's interests end up being.

Oh, there's that too, yeah. That's another reason I liked both of them, they involved different forms of changing and ruling over the world (Battle Royale ties into my interest in dystopian fiction, whereas Death Note simply plays to my idealism I suppose). I read that in the Battle Royale novel it's basically a case where the government is actually using the issue of the BR Act to keep the public divided, so that they'll never all rise up against the government, rather than actually attempting to achieve anything by it, but I've yet to read it so far. Can't have gone too far wrong given that you did well either way

Obviously job satisfaction is far more important than just getting lots of money, but obviously there's nothing wrong with having both is there?

Indeed it is. A lot of people I know are going for jobs which are either easy or pay lots of money. That is certainly not my aim! Basically, I made a few comparisons, the main being the idea of a perfect world, Battle Royale tries to contol and eliminate badly behaved children, while Light uses the Death Note to eliminate criminals to try and create the perfect world. Ultimately, nothing very good comes out of either scenario. Battle Royale and Death Note both have Tatsuya Fujiwara in them as well, (the guy who plays Light.) I ended up getting an A anyway, so I must have done something right, haha.

I like the overall style as well, since it's not trying to be overtly grim-dark in the manga at least and still succeeds in having that darker theme to it. And despite Light's defeat, at least he went down fighting instead of accepting his loss and admitting that to Near. What comparisons with Battle Royale are there? Both of them do deal with big "what-ifs" in relation to societies which aren't that different to our own and so will have a big impact on the viewer because of that, but I'm not sure if that's what you'd be focusing on in a media essay.

That's a good philosophy to work with, since it's much easier to study something if you're actually interested in it (hence my passion for law). As they say, if you pick a job you love, you'll never work a day in your life.

Yeah, I see. I liked parts of both the anime and the manga, I really like the artwork style too. And of course, Misa Misa. I basically analysed the film for media, with reference to the other forms. And with comparisons to Battle Royale and stuff. Everyone else was doing boring stuff, so I thought that if I'd have to write 5000 words on something, I'd make it on something interesting.
