A
Byronic hero, coined after
Lord George Gordon Byron (who enjoyed writing this archetype of characters and was one himself, although by no means is this archetype his invention), is essentially a protagonist - almost always an anti-hero, that is idealized but ultimately flawed. Common traits include high level of perception, intelligence, adaptation, cunning, and sophistication, often possessing a great deal of social (and possibly sexual) dominance through mystique, and probably not a great deal of traits that would identify him as a "classical hero" of virtue and all that fun stuff. ^_^;
...Obviously, Lelouch is one of the best textbook examples of a Byronic hero found in anime. ^_^
