Finally found R2. I've just finished episode eight. Quite entertaining so far.

Just wanted to add before you went offline considering supranational police: "Yes, but police forces are also maintained by governments that agree to fund it. Supranational police cannot function if nations cannot be convinced to form, support, and sponsor it."

I would classify Lelouch as an anti-hero, but largely because I have a very gray sense of morality; although I hardly believe that the application of such is universal, "the ends justify the means" is a rather appealing chain of thought, in my honest opinion. (Then, again, for me, the border between anti-hero and villain protagonist is not only razor-thin, but extremely blurred; after all, what defines a villain? Antagonism shown to the show's leading characters, or exhibition of morals by whoever's standards? ^_^; )

A Byronic hero, coined after Lord George Gordon Byron (who enjoyed writing this archetype of characters and was one himself, although by no means is this archetype his invention), is essentially a protagonist - almost always an anti-hero, that is idealized but ultimately flawed. Common traits include high level of perception, intelligence, adaptation, cunning, and sophistication, often possessing a great deal of social (and possibly sexual) dominance through mystique, and probably not a great deal of traits that would identify him as a "classical hero" of virtue and all that fun stuff. ^_^;

...Obviously, Lelouch is one of the best textbook examples of a Byronic hero found in anime. ^_^
