I like this idea. Though, that still leads to the question of why Ellie would be willing to let the sorcerer go.

    Ah, I see.

I'm not sure if you've read the two or three posts I've made in the OoC thread, but my next character concept is basically a partnership of sorts. One character is this sort of mage hunter who specializes in neutralizing magic and magical people. The other character is a powerful sorcerer who has through various means been drained of essentially all his power. So while he retains his knowledge and expertise, he simply hasn't the strength to do anything but the most basic of spells. In DnD terms, it would be like a sorcerer who was once capable of casting level 9 spells with ease, but would now find casting a simple Mend spell to be draining.

As time goes on, the sorcerer would slowly regain his strength (but still never reach his old potential), while the younger, mage hunter learns a few things here and there, but nothing drastic like opening up dimensional portals. More like enhancing spells.

Perhaps this could tie in with Elsie somehow, if you'd like. Perhaps the sorcerer once crossed Elsie, and the mage hunter would like him for some reason, and thus the two of them would discuss what would be a fair trade. (Though, given it would be a roleplay I'd think having my mage hunter retrieve or go kill someone for Elsie makes more sense than just handing over an object.)

I would find it interesting to have Cynathrax defeated and sent there, though, just because he'll likely be pissed off as opposed to frightened. It seems like an interesting way to have a character retired.

That's true. Plus NPCs can always be sent there.

Question: is she capable of pulling beings out of the hellmaw? If so then perhaps there may be a way I could tie this character concept I have in with her.

Aw, that's unfortunate. I wouldn't mind roleplaying with her, though I'm not too keen on losing any of my characters to the hellmaw. Yet, anyway.

Ah, I see. It's quite interesting, and I agree that an eternity (or a long time) in a dangerous dimension full of perils is a more devastating fate than simply being defeated or killed on the spot. Have you actually sent any characters there yet?

Curiosity, mainly. I like to look around (especially at Councilors) to see the various characters, locations and such that they've created.

While I love the explanation, I was thinking more the location than Ellie's body. The entire time I was reading it I couldn't help but think of some horrible, Lovecraftian plane like the Dreamlands' Underworld.

Where did you come up with the concept of the hellmaw?

Well, she wouldn't know that that's possible

And wow, that's a nice little fact

Hmm, now that I look at it, I could totally abuse Belle.

    But I won't.

    Great!
Now, I was thinking. In addition to giving Fania the key, could he also do some other experiments on her?
I was thinking that she need a way to get around the worlds. How about Omentus gives her an experimental dimensional transporter which just zaps her to a random location from time to time?
    And some new weapons?

Drammor has some unfinished business with Fania. She's been walking up stairs for over two months now.

oh, I just thought of something that I forgot in my last post to you: when I say the needs to stress her eyes, it isn't just like focussing with humans where you change view in depth, Shihaitans don't just focus range, but also size. Some Shihaitans that are trained to do so, or are just naturally gifted can actually see the chemical reactions occur - which is why I said that I can imagine her stressing her eyes to see such things.

In other words, it would take a fair amount of analyzation to see something on that scale - with the way they view the distance doesn't really matter so long as it's in view though - but in general in combat it would be a little on the slow side to be useful.

from what I understand of the tendrils they don't touch physical objects until they become made of matter themselves - or become corporeal - so Oakla would only able to view them when they shift into corporeality where they have a physical form, thought it would be invisible to others, with her vision, since they are at that point in existence and made of matter she could see them

as for the Zha's fire, I never decided whether she could see astral matter, or basically space itself, however Shihaitans (including Oakla) can see distortions in the fabric of space, which is what she would likely see here, so she wouldn't see the fire itself, but rather the effect on space that it has - I imagine she would have to stress to see it as well, something like identifying a slight ripple in water.

On a similar note of seeing the effects of things, she can technically locate fire by watching the oxygen it has to use up to survive, but again it would require a lot more focus than a human's eyesight would just to see the light.

I hope that answers the questions, feel free to ask for a clarification if there's something that was a bit vague in the explanation

of course, it's no problem, I'll try and answer them as clearly as possible.

Other than that is everything in order? I haven't posted in a while, and I feel rustly.
