Why did you call me a fag... I'm hurt. ;p

And wow, rather silly discussion going on. You make it seem like he's someone who doesn't have a soul or knows how to be respectful to a person simply because he goofs on the internet. Loads of people do this and they aren't disfunctional people in social life..probably have BETTER social lives. Both my parents really respect him and think he's extreamly polite and good in social enviornments and introducing himself to people... when they first met him, so ye... behavior like this on the internet doesn't really apply that strongly. So... I think it's important to know the difference that you should certainly give more respect to people you are face to face with than you are typing to someone... o.O

I'll be thinking and wishing you the best with your exams bud... <3

The fact that the identity can change so often does not stop it from being an identity, real or otherwise.

btw, weren't you in line to do the gender wars debate (that never took place)?
minus the weak insults, you can debate.

wait? is shallow really the word use? is it "shallow" to want to treat all humans with some modicum of respect?
I would think it more shallow to unscrupulously be rude to random people without regard to... well... I'd say their feelings, but I know you don't care about their feelings.
anyway, I wouldn't say shallow is the word. perhaps naiivly optimistic/icky sweet/rose-tinted glasses? and I suppose I'd be obliged to agree there. I'm pathetically optimistic.
but I'm doing fine and happy with life, so I suppose it hasn't hurt me any.
you seem to be quite comfortable with yourself and your life, as am I.
is either one of us really "winning" an argument in which the outcome is the same: two people who just have 100% opposite philosophies in life?
    *hooray philosophy*
hey wait, shallow people don't do philosophy...

there IS a difference between the environment at a store, and the environment on a web forum. I'm not arguing that.
where there is NOT a difference is that everyone is a human being whom I choose to treat with respect, whether I am face-to-face with them or communicating on the internet.

that's not a matter of science, that's a matter of personal values, and that is wehre we differ.
    clearly.

well the environment doesn't make any difference to me. I try to treat people with respect in every situation and setting. it's just that simple. That's not to say I like everyone or am nice to everyone, but I don't ever try to waste any effort, mental or physical, on putting people down.
of course, misunderstandings happen and people get hurt.

and yes, strangers at the store arenn't any different than any other stranger. Just because the point of a forum is to share opinions, doesn't mean you have to share them in a rude or needlessly degrading way. There are plenty of people on ZU whom I've given upright and frank opinions to, but not in an ill-willed way. It's all in the intent.

besides, you of all people should know that people on the internet can be totally awesome. that's how you found your girl.what if the first time you saw her, she was having a bad day and said something that you thought was dumb? you maight have judged her and missed a great opportunity...
sorry to inundate your wall. feel free to delete stuff

to me, strangers behind a keyboard are no different than a stranger at the store.
I'd never just walk up to someone and say "hey you look like an idiot" to them. For me, every person I encounter is default neutral. I give them the benefit of the doubt. if they show themselves to be a douche, I simply ignore them or only interact with them as necessary. But for the most part, I try to be respectful of every human being- across cyber space or across the shoe aisle at the store. I may not know them but that doesn't make them less of a person.

well I'm glad my pitiful existence is validated by helping to give pleasure to someone out there.

I'm a person who realizes that there are real human beings behind each keyboard out there, and I respect humanity. Or at least give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove themselves unworthy of my respect.
