Nothing against you personally, but... umm... Ah, I know; here's an example of something similar: Would you count the guy standing behind you in the queue at a place like McDonalds your friend? You may be in the same place as them for a time, but you don't know them at all.
But don't worry, I'm in the vast minority with my view on friend requests. There was even a thread about it a few weeks ago.
