When a member gets an infraction, they get an auto-generated PM, with some information written-in by the moderator who gave you the infraction. So, you should know who gave you the infraction, why they did, how many points it was for, and how long it is in effect. Also, there should be a tab on your profile page that you can click on that says "Infractions."
