my pleasure, glad you liked it

In my opinion, it's probably the least-proggy of their albums, but again sorry for not like... putting a DISCLAIMER or something, haha.

I agree with the franticness, actually. I listened to it today and I kinda realised that Televators does add some variety, and the lyrics are probably my favourites off of the album, too.

So I gave De-Loused a listen last night. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I don't listen to much progressive rock, so the style of it was somewhat unfamiliar and took a little bit to sort of catch on (emphasis on the 'little,' though). I was pretty much sold on it before it was half done. Vocal-wise I'm not entirely behind, I don't like it when the guy starts wailing too much, but there are some excellent melodies in a lot of places that tend to more than make up for it; and again they are for the most part really solid.

Favourites after a few listens are "Drunkship of Lanterns" and "Eriatarka." I also like "Televators," it's just something a little different that I think helps in making the record not seem too frantic.

For some reason it reminded me of Forgive Durden, I think it has something to do with the somewhat frantic and clashy-ness of the music, yet somehow it all ends up flowing together, even if it seems like it should just sound like a big mess. Though the two aren't really that much alike in...well, any respects, really.

It's a solid album though, I really enjoy it. Thanks for reccing it...however long ago that happened.

Actually, the track-by-track review format seems to be rather prevalent when it comes to a lot of albums these days. Generally they are shorter, and focus more on saying if each track is good or bad rather than describing what they actually sound like, but they are quite common these days.

In a perfect world, I'd probably do stuff like write reviews. Alas.

That's not a bad review, not at all. I used to like that album; I've kind of grown out of it by now. But Blue and Yellow is a really great song.

I guess it's kind of arrogant for me to call it a review, more of a breakdown, as you called it. But I do think that'd be a pretty cool job to have, being a music reviewer.

...You know, I actually wrote...I wouldn't call it a 'review,' but I guess it was an album breakdown not in a style dissimilar to the one you used. It was actually here, many years ago, for the self-titled The Used album. Let me do a quick search and...VIOLA!

But I'll start writing a new one at some point today, I think.

I remember one day (like 2 years ago) I was really bored and I went to the Amazon page for Billy Talent's II and I saw a review in the same style I did mine, reviewing as a whole then the songs individually, so I can't take whole credit for the style.

But yeah, I can't wait to see one from you.

*shrug* Not really. I find getting things across in the most simple way is better than using a lot of big, fancy, different words.

I've beening thinking of doing one in that style as well (you've set a bar that I now must meet), but not until I get silly school stuff out of the way.

Hah, really? Glad it motivated somebody.

I need a bigger vocabulary for my next one though, if I end up doing one (possibly The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me).

I lied, I'm not really going to. I enjoyed reading it too much. To the point where I'm planning on checking out that album...as soon as my friend who has it comes back to the city at the end of August.
