yea, that sounds about right. I remember watching a vid on the vista kernel and how it somehow self-contained the xp kernel, or something like that.

vista seems nice because I at least have options for what I want. I don't need fancy graphics that will bog down my ram.

Do you know what the perks of windows 7 are supposed to be?

I'm kinda a control freak when it comes to computers though.
Would Vista inhibbit that?
I guess 7 would be nice though, so long as it wasn't overly taxing on my computer.
I just need a computer that I could upgrade the sound card quite easily with (whichever motherboard that might be.) and can handle most basic programs originally written for Xp.

Not really concerned w/ gaming right now. but that might come later after I get the things I need first.

well I can't decide if I want mac or xp laptop.
probably won't be getting a laptop that comes with Windows 7, so I'm not gonna bother with Vista.

Starbucks makes you pay for WiFi I think, which is kinda silly.
but there are a couple places around here that have WiFi.
other than those places I usually drive 30ish minutes to where the coffee internet places are.

Coffee shops are cheap and many have free WiFi.
Makes for a good mix of IRL company and online.
I don't have a laptop, so I cannot partake in both as of yet.
Should have one by may-ish though, but that's a long ways off.
