Seperation of Church and State can work against that cause too.
You can't force a discriminatory religion to accept gay marriage, you would need to use political means.

It's all a big mess, sometimes I think religion shouldn't exist.

    Quote:
I wish neither side were trying to deny civil rights, because if that were the case I really wouldn't mind a Republican candidate, but until they get their act together and stop living like it's the 1950's, I will not be voting for them. I mean not until they AT LEAST start supporting civil unions for LGBT couples. Even so denying the title of marriage is a violation of the separation of church and state and unconstitutional.
Originally McCain was all for Marriage Equality, he soon realised that he had no chance in hell of getting nominated under the Republican ticket with that opinion.

Same goes for his running mate. He wanted Leiberman (sp), but Rove realised this would also jeopardize his chances, so instead he catered to the woman vote and the fundamentalist vote in one single blow.

If you can say anything about Neoconservatives, they are maniacly intelligent.

I think Prop 8 is only applying to California, I haven't been told to vote on it. I could be wrong though.

I have come to terms with the fact that there are two different kinds of conservatives. The conservatives of my Grandpa's age believed that the Government should not be a huge institution, let alone a government that has the power to force people and restrict people in their own personal lives. I have come out to my 87 year old grandfather and he has absolutely no problems with it, he is a WWII vet as well!

Seems like the GOP is the complete opposite of what it was back in the day.

It's very disheartening that the entirety of the Republican party is dominated by fundamentalist religious groups.

"We don't hate you, we tolerate you with all our hearts, but we still won't let you do what should be able to do under the constitution."

    Sad.

I support you completely, even if the latter in your visitor messages doesn't. Just be glad she doesn't live in California.

You know, every single time I talk to you, converse of you, or hear your name, I never ever thought once of you as a female. I thought of you as a male. You have always been "that guy who thinks/wishes he's a female" from ZU, NH, or SWF.

Anyways, you and those who oppose Prop 8 are the biggest hypocrites on the planet. You say you are for tolerance and love, when all you do is go around attacking those who are for Prop 8. There are nothing but violent attacks and online flames towards Prop 8 supporters all over the news and internet. You never hear about Prop 8 supporters attacking you at all... Some love and tolerance huh? Hypocrits...

All we are voting for is religious freedoms, traditional marriage, and strong families. We don't want any of that to change just to accept your lifestyle. Too many bad things have happened in Canada, UK, and Massachusetts already, and we they don't want the same to happen in California, or the rest of the country. Thank goodness, there are too many states who are against it and will probably never have to vote on it.

This does in no way mean we hate any of you, it just means we do have a right to oppose you for any reason, because that's America. Freedom to do so. That is what I meant by changing the definition. Just because we oppose, doesn't mean hate. They are two different things, and you people constantly confuse the two. Honestly, the constitution (along with this country) is hanging by a thread. The fact that it needs to be decided upon again is scary. But, so far there are more for Prop 8 then there are against it, so I seriously doubt your side will win. Nothing will change, they will have all the rights and legalities that they had before. Don't like it, move to Massachusetts where its legal.

It seems like its not a big deal to give you all that you ask, but the fact that horrible things have happened to those who oppose (NOT HATE) your lifestyle, means that its not worth giving you what you want. If none of that happened, this debate or issue wouldn't be as big of a deal. Too bad it is.

Look I don't hate you personally or anything, I'm just being completely honest with you.

What on earth does your CR mean? Just because we oppose gay marriage doesn't mean we hate it. Liberals are constantly trying to change the definition of love, marriage, and now even hate. O_o

It's not hate. Get that in your head please.
