I started off as mage too It means you're the healer though and that can be tedious, I recommend making your main pawn a mage though it worked out excellently for me..

My team: Myself (Assassin)
Main pawn (Mage)
Pawn1 (Fighter)
Pawn2 (Warrior)

One piece of advice though: Bows are your friend :|
