Oh, I'll ask my papa about that *nods*. I don't know that much about it, but I'll tell you what I do know:

It's a man who can dance with the grace of a woman, which is a beautiful and huge honour in my culture. I think it's related to how we used to dance in our religious ceremonial things. These days, I think at least in areas that are very metropolitan and urbanised, it's not seen as such a spiritual connection, but having a guy cross-dress is more a sign of personal preference, and something that is still acceptable regardless the lack of spiritual ties. However, back in the islands there's still a lot of spiritual belief and honour behind it (:
