Uhm, no I made many points at the start of the discussion.

My job isn't to run the SD board like the US Congress. I don't need to protect freedom speech, or separate church from lol, modship. My job is to run a board in a way that is harmonious civil and fun. Having half the forum gang up on one individual is an unpleasant experience for that individual, so I step in, to slow it down. So that he can continue to discuss from his point of view, without potentially becoming upset, from what he feels may be bullying.

I am not running a country here. I am running a board of discussion, on a children's video game fan site. I don't need to protect any higher ideals. I just need to protect members from feeling harassed and bullied.
