You were most likely called dumb because you assumed that two people of the same gender can't possibly have sex with each other and presented this as fact when it's not. As you said, that's not a matter of opinion, it's a fact that homosexuals can and do have sex with each other. :3 Had you presented it as "I don't think gay people should have sex" it would've been an opinion. A rather homophobic and offending opinion, but an opinion non the less.

But one good example is a discussion I once participated in about homos being able to have sex with one another. That's not a matter of opinion, actually, it's fact. I was wrong in thinking they couldn't, which means we were not dealing with opinions here. Yet I'm still called dumb for it. Honestly, wtf...

I think the problem, sometimes, is how you decide to express your opinion. I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but a lot of the time you come across as rather pushy about what you think. While you might not say it right out, you give people the feeling that you think their opinion is stupid and wrong... making them respond in kind. :3

Still, I'm sick of people calling my opinions stupid or dumb because they disagree. I respect their opinions, so they should respect mine, right? While I admit I do seem to be part of the minority most of the time, that shouldn't matter.

What I think may sound awkward to some, but why should they even care? It's a stupid thing to argue over.
