I think I died like only about 5 times the first time I played OOT. And I don't recall ever dying other than on purpose in either MM, WW, or TP.

Maybe, but compared to the relative easiness of the 3D Zelda games it was a decent challenge IMO. My current record on AOL is dying less than 20 times.
