Let me rephrase it then. Only in the context of having people on YouTube care more about your channels.

Well then FINALLY we can agree on something.

Another problem I have is that if you comment in one medium, I feel like there isn't much reason to comment in the other. I know that you want Youtubers to look at the comments and all and see that people put that effort, but to me (and maybe only me), the point of the thread is both to advertise the LP AND, probably even more important than that, to discuss what's going on in the LP and the game. So I feel like all that's needed is the Thumbs Up and the discussion in the thread, while people who are only on Youtube can see that Thumbs Up and know that people liked this video and they can do their own commenting, if they so choose.

But again, this is just my opinion.

I guess my previous point kinda tackles this.

Re: The (Voluntary) LP Circle!

Well obviously, it takes more commitment. But if you don't like it, I can't really do anything about that. I've already said that you don't need to do it. It's just a way in which you can help out the group more. That's it. Like adding ketchup to your hamburger.

I don't think so.

I know, I know. I'm just throwing in my opinion so that we can sort of see if we can have more ideas thrown around, get some discussion rolling and maybe find ways to improve upon the original suggestion.

How about this. If you would like for me to amend the OP, what do you think I should correct? Not to the point where I get rid of anything, but refine it so that it's in harmony with everything else?

James! I overreacted again!

I really wish I had a friend close by to slap me upside the head whenever I do that.

I just feel like it focuses too much on the video hosting site side of things. I believe that we should focus more on improving things on the side of the ZeldaUniverse Let's Play Subforum. Finding ways to better encourage thread discussion. But that would probably be a bit big of a change in the overall structure of the entire suggestion.

Re: The (Voluntary) LP Circle!

Well this isn't the thread to discuss that then.

This thread is specifically about a webring you can be a part of if you so wish. It's a community within a community, if you know what I mean.

But if we want to talk about the community (the first one ), it would be better to have a different thread.

Well, it was more geared towards the idea of focusing on comments and, later on, saying to restate or copy/paste what we commented onto threads, bit. I like the Thumbs Up bit and the people who do want to participate would probably get a lot out of it, but that bit just felt redundant and I wanted to throw in my 2 cents about it. It's just that I feel that a Thumbs Up is plenty indication that people cared enough to watch enough to like it and the thread is the best place FOR commenting on the Let's Play and saying the same thing twice is just a bit redundant.

Re: The (Voluntary) LP Circle!

I'll amend the controversial "post comments below the videos FIRST" part. I didn't mean for it to come across that way.

Also, check out the new thread I sloppily slapped together.

Edit: Okay, that part of the guidelines has been amended. It now says that "it's good to post below the video as well as in the forums." Sorry there's a harmony of both.

This will not be debated any further please. The point is logically sound. If you don't like it, simply don't do it.

Re: The (Voluntary) LP Circle!

If you 'like' a video, does it show up in a playlist on your channel? Because I would love to like everyone's videos all the time (if I actually do like them, I won't lie to you!) but I also don't want them to show up as a playlist on my channel! I like most everything else but my channel is for my stuff, and the "other people you may like' box is where you promote you're friends. But I absolutely love the rest of the ideas. I know that may sound conceited, but I don't mean it that way, I mean it as in I would love to promote the rest of you to get more views, but in other ways than putting your videos on my channel. Unless its a collab. But I'll spread your channel to as many people as I can!!! I hope that makes sense.

Listed in the OP are ways in which you can help the group.

I don't mean to sound like a douche, but what did you expect? People just picking their butts and merely saying they're in a "group" with nothing to show for it?

The whole point of this is for our channels to connect with each other, creating a "ring" so to speak. How are you a part of the ring if you decided to disregard all of the guidelines? You wouldn't really be part of a "circle" now would you? Because logically, you aren't connected to it. If you want to use the Internet, you need to plug in the cord, if you get my meaning.

So more than anything, these guidelines aren't a "DO THIS AND THIS AND THIS OR I'LL KICK YOU IN THE NUTS! RAWR!". They are not rules. Rather, they are instructions to help you out.

Following them also show your commitment towards the success of the group.

But hey, if you don't want to follow them, no one's gonna stop you. I'm not angry or trying to be a jerk in saying these things, but merely trying to show my logic behind them.
I'm fine with recommending other channels, its asking for subscriptions I don't like. Which isn't what we were really talking about, I was just giving a rebuttle to what I said about Robert's statement.

Re: The (Voluntary) LP Circle!

That seems redundant don't you think though? :3
If they like it, they'll subscribe by themselves.
Not only this but like Robert said, its as if you are treating your subscribers as numbers to brag with. And that's really selfish. Don't get me wrong though, it feels good to know that alot of people watch your videos you work hard on, but when you realize what you're doing it doesnt feel as satisfying.

I'm thinking that we should have some kind of "list of members" on the first post or something.

I never treat my subscribers as merely numbers. You guys can think that way all you want, but please realize that there are others out there, like me, who see it differently.

Any of the members in this community who have been here as long as me, such as Berry Punch and Anon, who discussed the matter with me before, can vouch for me.

In fact, I can turn it around and say not caring about subs is lazy and shows a lack of wanting to improve your art. But we're not going to go there.

But since you've not seen my philosophy before, I'll share it again:

More subscriptions mean more comments. More comments mean more encouragement and/or criticism. More encouragement and criticism show more people care, which influences you to do even better. Also, more subscriptions means a better chance that even more people will get the chance to see your stuff and perhaps comment and encourage you further. All of this encourages you to improve on your art (and have fun doing so of course) to please your fanbase.

Now, did I once use the word "numbers" in that? No. I don't view subscriptions as numbers, but as valued customers who actually care for what I have to offer.

And as for thinking it's wrong to ask for people to subscribe? Well, that's 100% subjective and I completely disagree with it. In fact, I find such views rather snobby and elitist if people don't keep ♥♥♥♥ like that to themselves, as well as attempted justification for laziness.

So yeah, be careful with preaching that subs and asking for subs are a bad thing. You might as well be spitting a loogi in my face. I've worked really hard to get where I'm at, and that's pretty far when I compare with how I first started. My drive this whole time has been to share my art with others. And how am I going to do that if no one knows my channel exists?

Subscriptions.

Oh, and not once have I ever bragged about how many subscriptions I have. Instead, I've been doing my damnedest to try and help you guys out. That was the whole intention of this circle.

Re: The (Voluntary) LP Circle!

Oh, I see what you're saying now, Azure.

I never (seriously) ask for subscriptions. I believe at the end of a couple LPs I've said something like "rate, subscribe, get drunk, ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥es. first two are optional, second two are mandatory" but I was mostly joking*. I figure people will sub if they like it.

*Mostly joking, meaning you better get drunk. 8)
