The new interface is incredibly bad looking and feeling.

The player is a little meh, but the new channel options are rad.

Yeah, I find the new layout just horrible. Recommended videos takes up a third of the screen, it feels so messy now.

I tried the new channel layout very briefly before switching back to the old one. I couldn't see my subscribers, my friends, channel comments. It is a mess.

I think some of you guys are just too used to the old layout. I haven't really used it for long, so it's easier for me to transition. I like how I can feature other people's channels.

i also like the new layout. which is surprising because i'm usually against such changes.

i'm finally over strep and my new copy of Vegas 11 just came in. Looking forward to getting back in the swing of things.

Welp, I currently have all of Chip and Dale and DKC3 recorded. Four more DKC3 vids and 1 more Chip and Dale.

And I think I've found the game I'm going to blind run.

You were already able to do that.

My friend is forcing me to play another co-op game with her and it's actually more fun than DKC3. Already have 2 vids recorded.

I have a question about the new channel layout. Am I missing something, or did they completely remove the channel commenting system? I can't see any user comments of any sorts in any of the channels I've seen with the new channel layout.

Unless I am missing something obvious this makes me very sad. I find it highly discouraging for people connecting with their fanbase. It was already hard enough creating some sort of community on youtube, if they remove the channel comments (again, am I missing something) I really don't see how you could possibly get to know the people watching you. I kinda liked the idea of people sending each other comments on people's channel pages.

I love to interact with people, this just makes things more difficult.

So again, my question is as follow. Am I missing something very obvious here?

So, this may seem like a dumb question, but how do I set my channel's 'style'? For example:



That says "commentary." I wanted to list mine as such, but I can't find an option anywhere.

i'd find out for you...but i'm getting a message about performing maintenance and how youtube is not up 100%. IMO its never up 100% but whatevs

I'd show you in pictures, but Youtube is in maintenance mode right now (why don't they ever announce these things?!)

But it's in your settings...you have to set your channel type to "Guru" or something like that. After that, another menu should appear, called "Style." "Commentary" should be under that.

They moved it...again.

Okay...go to your channel, click "Settings." Change your channel type to "Director."

Then, on the channel info (the stuff on the side of your screen where your info is), click "edit." There should be a choice now for "style." From the drop-down menu next to it, select "Commentary."

That should do it.

Edit: Ah, nevermind, I just changed it back to old youtube and I see it all now.

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but I want to share what I don't like when it comes to LP's:



Remember when I said that an LP is all about the commentary? That if a person has great commentary it could make the worst game in the world look good? Well, the opposite is also true. Bad commentary can also ruin a video.

I don't know who this guy is and I have nothing against him. But I have everything against the above LP video. The guy is running his mouth non-stop and faster than a speeding bullet. It's hard to keep up on what he's saying. If I were to transcribe what was saying into written word, there wouldn't be a single period.

So in this case, the commentary distracted me from enjoying the vid. And it's a shame because I really love Pokémon Snap.

Was this the fad people were mentioning about LPers? Is it a fad to commentate in this manner?

Man, I was actually hoping he was gonna hold the character he was playing in the beginning of the video the entire way. That would've been pretty funny. Like, SirRonLionheart funny.
