Zelda Universe Chatroom Rules
- Be advised that the Zelda Universe chatroom is sparsely moderated. Vulgar language is generally allowed. If someone's being mean to you, all you can do is deal with it.
- No flaming. We do like to keep the chatroom as friendly as possible when we can.
- No flooding or spamming.
- No warez or illegal material of any type.
- No pornography. This is a family site!
How to Do Stuff in the Chatroom
Changing your Chatroom Nickname
If you're reading this, the Java IRC client above this text has probably already logged you into the ZU chatroom with your forum username. You can change your chatroom username, or "nick," whenever you want.
If you want to CHANGE your nick, type the following:
/nick newnick
So to change your nick to "Link", you would type...
/nick Link
Registering and Logging Into the Chat
To prevent other people from misusing your nick, you can REGISTER it with the chatroom server. To REGISTER your nickname, type the following:
/msg nickserv REGISTER password youremail
So, say you want to register your nick with the password "triforce", and your email is "example@emailaddress.com", you would type
/msg nickserv REGISTER triforce example@emailaddress.com
To show you are the real "Link", you will have to identify yourself using your password when you enter IRC. To do this, type
/msg nickserv IDENTIFY password
So if your password is "triforce", you will type
/msg nickserv IDENTIFY triforce
Chatting With Other People
Chatting with others is as easy as typing what you want to say and pressing "enter," just like you do in your favorite instant messenger. You can perform an action by typing /me, followed by your action. So someone named "Link" could type
/me slaps Jason with a ham
What will appear in the chat window, in purple, is
* Link slaps Jason with a ham
