The intelligent die while the less intelligent survive

Thinking about high school has got me wondering about the whole class system most (if not all schools) have. It's always the smart kids that get picked on the most, if you go through any type of school the intelligent kids are always looked down upon. I don't know weather it's just here in Oregon but most of the students that attend my high school seem to think that being smart is dumb and if you value education you should be ridiculed for it. I'm really appalled by my English class. Most of the students are either failing or they have a C average. I'm in a country that is supposed to be built on an English system of language and they're failing it???
I don't know weather it's jealousy or resentment but being intelligent in school is for some reason looked down upon. I usually get A's and B's on my report card and I know a lot of facts that I've heard on the TV or in a book and my friends jokingly tease me about being too smart, but I don't really see anything wrong with it. Being smart should be the only way to survive in life. If you look at how animals are in their environment it's usually the less intelligent, weak, disabled or oldest one that gets killed. Brain power is a vital thing and I don't think someone should be prosecuted for being intelligent. And yet it feels like the American population is getting less intelligent everyday maybe even the world’s population is getting dumber.
There is no way for humanity to take intelligence seriously since there are no actual predators for humans to outsmart.
Would you think that in this time of age humanity has become less intelligent, and will we continue to get dumber if talented youths are being ridiculed about how smart they are?

It's rediculous that less intelligent people pick on the smart ones. Although, I guess they only do it to make themselves feel better, but still...

What grade are you? The lower the grade level, the more likely this is to occur.

That said, I never saw this problem at my high school in Toronto. The smart kids were just as popular, if not more so, than the dumb kids, provided they weren't total losers to begin with (which most of them weren't).

Well my school was a mix of intelligent and not-so-intelligent people, and the not-so-intelligent people tended to be the more popular ones.

In college, it changes. Hang in there a little longer and it will all start to pay off. Don't lower yourself to their level just because they're popular. It will all turn around on them one day

Also, we still have to fight off other humans for job positions and the like.

just because in high school clever people are sometimes called nerds, doesnt mean that intelligence isnt valued in society as a whole.

While we aren't hunted down by any predators, since we are more intelligent, we see more problems, like global warming. Since we're smarter and we realize global warming is a problem, we feel responsible for it. After all, we are the ones who brought on the problem.

With intelligence comes more responsibility. Look at what we've made; atomic bombs.

What about other cases, such as the stereotypic view of all Asians being too smart. Most people ridiculed them for using their minds, why should that be any different from someone in high school being treated differently just because he/she is more intelligent?

Judges doctors and any other profession are things that require skill, you can't be a professional football player if you've never thrown a foot ball, you can't be a surgeon if you've never held a knife before, and can't be a software engineer if you've never used computer code. those skills didn't just pop into the persons head, they trained to use this skill to thier advantage, they had to study hard and long and they know things that others couldn't even fathom that's really what I'm getting at.

Its not that they're picked on because they're smart, its just that (atleast at my school) that all the really smart kids are just really huge douche-bags and annoy the hell out of people, hence why they are picked on and alone. I'm not saying all smart kids are douche bags, let that be noted.

The point i made was that in society, real society rather than a microcosm such as high school, intelligence IS valued.

People let ther brains atrophy because of the technology created by educated, productive members of society.

What a paradox...wouldn't it be fun scenario if, say, there was no one left pull innovation out their nogins and all of humanity was dependant on the past? We'd be cavemen...heh

Survival of the fittest is my philosophy, but that doesn't technically mean the "smartest."

It might also emcompass those fittest to utolize the intellect of those around them.

A lot of animals on this planet use their minds to survive. Yes you need physical strength but you need a mind to control that strength. An organism that solely bases its development on pure physical strength would probably not last long. There will always be this struggle for power.

It's hard to say because without strength an animal can't put up a defense and without inelegance an animal doesn’t know when to use the strength it's given and find a weakness in other creatures.

It's not a matter of being smart or dumb, its having to do with if you have any social skills and can talk on the same level as people. Never get all High and Mighty just because you THINK you have a higher intelligence. Just talk with people and be yourself dude, **** will be a lot easier.

FUN FACT: I was in High School for 6 years, did not go to college, I'm gonna be a pro wrestler, and my current job I make a good $17 p/h just to sit on my ass all night.
