It means forbidden, frowned upon, prohibited, etc.

For the record, I don't think homosexuality is taboo.

No, it's not taboo at all.
Some people might think so, but overall it's not.

Trust me...it's not.

There's nothing wrong with homosexuality, in my opinion. If a guy wants to like another guy, or a girl wants to like another girl, then whatever. What's it matter?

Hey Benni so you're saying it's wrong for a guy to love another guy or a girl and a girl?

I find it morally wrong. It wasn't meant to be.

No. Homesexuality is not a taboo.

Anyone who thinks that may as well form a new Nazi regime.

What's that? Where's my argument?

I don't need one.

Is it taboo? In many places, yes.

Should it be? No.

I mean, seriously, it doesn't harm anyone. You may as well ban eating fried chicken, at least that's potentially harmful if done often enough.

Geeze, Godwin's law is being broken a lot here on ZU. Seriously, you're making the families of Nazis angry every time you compare y to them. Comparing y to Hitler also doesn't help out as this gets the descendant's of him angry and gives the Neo-Nazi's an excuse to beat you up.

In short, there is the penalty for breaking Godwin's Law. I decree it so.

Well, you kinda do need a reason.

I believe that "homosexuality is not a choice" is sufficient.

Yes, and I'm NOT. And I'm clarifying that because I want all fine ladies to know that ;-)

It's taboo because of numerous reasons, tradition being the nr one reason. As with many other things, the taboo is getting weaker and soon enough it will be gone... which is great.

Myself, I have nothing against homosexual people... as long as no gay starts hitting on me, then I will have something against him. And for the record, I can't watch two guys kiss. It's quite nasty, if you ask me. However, that is my problem, not anyone elses.

Could you watch two women kiss?

<_<; yes, this is relevant to the subject. I am requesting permission to post examples...please? Pretty please?

So this post isn't entirely off-subject:

As someone who lives in the American South, I can say that, down here, people are still as bigoted as usual.

I think that you may have just suffered from a misunderstanding.

For clarification, I chose the "No, and I'm not" option.

I would say generally that homosexuality is really not as a taboo in the Western World, particularly in North America (actually, I can't really speak towards Mexico, but the U.S. and Canada certainly. Likely the UK as well). While of course there are still bigots and homophobic people who find it to be taboo, I think in general it has been accepted into society.

I form this on the basis that homosexual characters have become quite prevalent in the Entertainment world, particularly in movies and television. While they are often wishy-washy stereotypes, the very fact that they are there at all shows that their presence and existance is noted and felt, and as much of the time they aren't shown to be villians or the 'evils' of whatever they are portrayed on, they are accepted.

Depends on where you are really,

In a factual sense yes, homosexuals are unatural. The survival of human beings relies on natural sexual reproduction aka X+Y/man and women go bang, bang, etc., etc.

But nothing's wrong with a homosexual...socially. Some collegues believe it to be a genetic disposition or a hell-worthy trespass.

I don't WANT to think it a personal choice. Down with the hate!!!

They're just part of the world at large, it takes all kinds for me to be politically correct to quote "Differen' strokes fo' differen' folks."
