Affirmative action

As I was reading through threads about racism among us, I couldn't help to realize that there is one corrupt system that discriminates against races all the time, college admissions. I don't see the logic behind denying a well qualified student a place in the college's freshman class just because they need to fill another spot for a minority who isn't as qualified. Some of you may agree this is fair and just to bring those minorties out of oppression but I find it completely absurd to call as far as taking an under-qualified applicant to fill the college's needs.

Even though colleges pledge that they do not use race as a factor ....they do. I am a vistor and a poster all this one college specified forum and let me tell you that I'm shocked to find that there are more of these cases that you can imagine.

I can't help but to laugh at the irony and hypocrisy that lives among us. For those of you who want an end to racism read this and let me hear your opinions. If you are indifferent, I would love to hear from you anyways.

NOTE: I apologize for my negligence of grammar usage and spelling. I will fix it shortly...

Affirmative action is pretty much blatantly discriminatory. Colleges want to build a "diverse" student body so that there's a melting pot in classes. Which does have its perks, since generally a full class of people born and raised in America will have more homogeoneous opinions (and thus, might be more dull) than a class with someone who grew up in Turkey and another who grew up in South Africa. Of course, a Turkish person and an African American might have the exact same opinions.

So...I don't think it's a matter of defending minorities, nor has it ever been. It does actually provide a different experience in college. At least, theoretically.

And whether or not it's racist simply depends on what you consider racist. Under my definition, it isn't, though it is still discriminatory.

The thing is it is unfair to pass up a well qualified student just to make the campus more diverse.

Big deal.
