Thoughts on the PH control system?
Just what the title says. I absoleutly hated the control scheme. Half the time, i'm trying to see something, but I can't becuase my hand's in the way, becuase movement only happens using the touch screen!
Nintendo is obbsessed with making use of the Ds Touch control. Making use of it isn't a bad thing, but PH's control scheme was over the top. I'm also fairly certain they'll do it on ST as well. It might've worked if they had movement controlled by bottom screen, but what's happening on the top screen. That would've been much better, I think. |

You must have huge hands
![]() I never had a problem seeing things. That said, I wasn't a big fan of using the stylus for movement and it took a while to get used to. Using it for the boomerang and bombchus worked perfectly though.

Re: Thoughts on the PH control system?
I think the control scheme was great, and it seemed like a good, sensible design for a DS game. I personally didn't have a problem with viewing the screen with the stylus in the way, but that's just me. For one thing, using the stylus meant that you could accurately determine where you wanted to go on the map and how fast you wanted to get there. Attacking was pretty accurate too with the stylus. So I think PH's controls were pretty good.

Re: Thoughts on the PH control system?
I didn't like the idea of just using the stylus as just the main controll. I couldn't see half of the screen for worth of crap! But, still, new ideas have to be in use for some stupid things lately.

Re: Thoughts on the PH control system?
I thought it was just about the only thing good about the game. Everything else ranged from just about platable to downright boring and repetitive. The controls were very good, though, so a Zelda DS has very high potential. They just need to, y'know, use it!

Re: Thoughts on the PH control system?
Well, I thought that the sword, at least, should have been controlled like normal, with the B button. I didn't have much problem using the stylus to steer, once I got used to it, and actually thought it was pretty cool. However, having both steering and the sword be controlled the same way is ridiculous, and poses a few problems. There were times I wanted to do one, but did the other by mistake.
Other than that, it was cool, and I wouldn't mind having it in ST as well. ^^ |

Re: Thoughts on the PH control system?
It was very relaxing and somehow liberating to control link like a little finger puppet XD I was slightly worried about scratching the screen though... and the slicing was very annoying. I don't think I rolled once in the whole game

Re: Thoughts on the PH control system?
I really liked the control on PH. Sword and roll were somewhat annoying, but everything else was smooth and fun. I like the way it used the microphone for some enemies and the fact you have to shut the DS to complete a puzzle. Doors that require you to write symbols and the slate you use on the sea were plain annoying as you have to draw the symbol five or six times before it recognizes it. Overall, I loved the control! Can't wait for Spirit Tracks!

Re: Thoughts on the PH control system?
I really like the controls, I had no problems with it. Well ok, rolling didn't really work, but who needs that anyway? I thought it was pretty natural to simply point where you want to go, and tap what you want dead. Simple and it works. Using the items worked well too, drawing lines and so on. And I don't know if there's something wrong with my hands, but they were never on my way, I could see just fine. I tried just now, sure I could hold the stylus so that my hand ends up blocking a part of the screen, but why would I do that when I can easily hold it so I can see.
PH is great, and I can't wait for Spirit Tracks ^^

Re: Thoughts on the PH control system?
I had a problem with the Control System at first "Oh noo, I hate using the stylus to move aroundd", but I got used to it in no time at all. It was a bit annoying at first with my hand getting in the way to see things. And as people have mentioned, using the stylus to control the boomerang and writing on the slate was perfect, you wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise.

Re: Thoughts on the PH control system?
I really didn't care for it at first but I did get used to it. I absolutely hated fishing with it!!! and trying to roll was terrible! My screen cover is all scratched up because of PH.
I think I prefer the WW scavenging are instead of having to use the stylus to navigate the claw down to the chest.I do however liked some things, like being able to make notes on the maps was just awesome! As well as drawing the lines for the bombchus and boomerang

Re: Thoughts on the PH control system?
I loved the way you could use the items with the stylus, that was great! But I didn't like how you had to point to move, sometimes your hand could get in the way, and tapping something and having Link automatically run over and slash it was lame. Come on, we want Zelda to be harder remember? I felt like this took the fun out of "swordplay". But I guess there isn't a good way to switch from using the stylus for items, and moving with the D pad...

Re: Thoughts on the PH control system?
New. Goes well for the DS. I liked it. And now we get an entire game when ST comes out not just a experimental demoish kind of short story like PH was. Did like it, but waiting for ST eagerly.
