TMC vs ALttP
Alright, not only am I sick of all the TWW vs TP crap that's gone around, but I also thought this was an interesting debate to begin.
TMC or ALttP? It confuses me as to why some people say ALttP is better. TMC was far better if you ask me and in almost every way. There was more character development, more to do, more sidequests, more everything except dungeons, basically, in TMC. The only things ALttP had over TMC for me was one song (Hidden Mountain & Forest, which was also present in FSA), the game's length, and the difficulty (ALttP was obviously way harder, come on). ALttP was pretty much nothing but dungeons. It felt empty. The characters were there just to be there and were near useless except Sahasrahla. There were few other things to do besides dungeons. TMC, on the other hand had figurines, Kinstone fusing, a few sidequests like getting the bottle in the Goron Cave, and more. I also had more fun with TMC's dungeons even though they were easier. ALttP's were annoying at times. Don't get me wrong, ALttP is a very good game and is high on my favorite Zelda list (ranks 3rd). I just found TMC to be a lot better.

Re: TMC vs ALttP
Well sorry to disappoint you but ALttP is the superior game. Of course thats my answer to most things. TMC was painfully short and its map was really small. Sure some of the characters were more interesting in TMC, but that alone doesnt make it better. ALttP empty? Yeah sure. There were plenty plenty things to do and sidequests. TMC actually seemed kinda crowded considering how small the world was. The kinstone fusion although a good idea was kinda clunky. I mean after a certain point you cant even fuse certain ones with certain people! Some of that is permanently missable and i found that to be terribly irritating. ALttP had a huge world if you count the Dark World and remember TMC only had one town. ALttP had two (counting the Village of Outcasts). The whole game was not just dungeons. Lets not forget the Zora's domain area, Kakariko, the castle, etc. I actually felt rewarded when seeing the ending with everybody all happy. TMC didnt really have that fantastic of an ending.

Re: TMC vs ALttP
Well, that's your opinion. Not mine. I think TMC is the superior game, you don't. Each to their own.
![]() You are saying things that are wrong though. TMC had two towns that were full of life. Hyrule Town and Minish Village. Hyrule Town was full of business men, games, shops, and more. Kakariko just had houses and people. Hardly anything else. Minish Village had the wise Elder, Festari, and the friendly Minish. Secondly, there was no Zora's Domain in ALttP. Only the Waterfall of Wishing which had some evil Zoras here and there and a big Zora that gave you flippers. Oh, also, this brings another point. You had to work for the Flippers in TMC. All you had to do for them in ALttP was have enough money. As for the endings, I've never seen ALttP's because I have never beaten it, but I quite enjoyed TMC's. It's my favorite Zelda game ending so far. 'Twas very touching.

Re: TMC vs ALttP
You really really really hate it when people disagree with you dont you?
Sure yeah i forgot the Minish village but i didnt like it. It was kinda meh to me. It may not have been called Zora's Domain but it was certainly the same (only the Zoras werent nice) and it was cool not being on the map and all. Seriously, stop getting so damn defensive every single time someone disagrees with you!

Re: TMC vs ALttP
I prefer ALttP mostly because of difficulty and length of the quest. Howver it also has more items (a ton of which are optional) interesting puzzles using the mirror, you could upgrade pretty much everything, the overworld was massive especially if you consider the Dark World as a seperate world, and the GBA version comes bundled with Four Swords.
Minish cap had some interesting aspects, I liked the story and I liked items like the cane of pacci and the gust jar, I also liked other things like floating with your hat and rolling. But in the end one thing tips the scales for ALttP: Bunny Link.

Re: TMC vs ALttP
How this even a contest? ALTTP is the one that created the formula that every Zelda game sans MM uses to this day. It was also bigger, harder, and overall more fun.
You can say MC is betterm but if you try and say MC is more innovative than ALTTP, you're just being an idiot. And Zeldoom speaks the truth, Stony. Your opinion is not absolute, and you need to realize that.

Re: TMC vs ALttP
At the time of LTTP's release, it was the console Zelda and the ultimate in gaming worldwide. Improvements in technology have made it easy for them to produce TMC, which by today's standards is just a cute portable key finding game. TMC is far and away superior to LTTP in almost every way, because it stands on LTTP's shoulders and builds on what LTTP put in place many many years ago.

BAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH.
A Link to the Past. Handily and without a doubt. Also, I agree with people's confusion as to why you're being so defensive when you're the one who started the debate.

Re: TMC vs ALttP
In my opinion both games are just above average, and ALttP is painfully overrated.
TMC was very easy, linear and short. It had some nice characters and a lively world, but the dungeons were very lacking. They were very easy to navigate, and were ridiculously easy. The boss battles were equally disappointing as well (except of course for the awesome final boss). And, it doesn't help that the game was very short. It did have its moments though, such as that sky temple thing (whatever it's called). The plot wasn't too impressive either. Still, it was definitely worth playing, and as a Zelda game has everything that makes Zelda a great series. ALttP on the other hand is pretty darn overrated if you ask me. As we all know, it pales in comparison to some other Zelda games when it comes to side-quests, but it doesn't help that the dungeons aren't that great either. They're once again very linear and easy to navigate, lack puzzles, and the very few puzzles there are are extremely easy to figure out. There are only maybe two or three puzzles in the game that made me think. The dungeons did have some pretty tough enemies and bosses though, and that what makes the game so hard. Still, I prefer impressive puzzles over challenging enemies. The boss battles were also a little too simple, but their sheer challenge more than made up for that. The only reason this game is as good as TMC in my opinion is the better difficulty, the length, the story, and a bit of the soundtrack (Darkworld theme FTW)! Those are my impressions on the two games. ![]() Quote:
I found those three much better than ALttP, together with TP and TWW, plus TMC I found equal to ALttP. IMO the only Zelda games among the ones I've played (meaning all except the first, LA and the FS games) that are worse than ALttP Are PH, OoS and AoL. ![]() |

Re: TMC vs ALttP
A Link to the Past's dungeons were pretty awesome, as well as the great scope and 500 times better overworld. The action was also great, among the better in the series. Sure, Minish Cap had some good battles, but compared to A Link to the Past? No competition. The items were also better etc.
I...think I've said enough at this point. I do place Minish Cap almost right beneath it, though, with only the Four Sword games in between. |

Re: TMC vs ALttP
ALttP was vastly superior, in terms of size, difficulty, dungeons, bosses, and general fun value.

I would love to say the Minish Cap because I just enjoyed it.
I never finished A Link to a Past, never did because it was alittle hard for me. :< |
